This is worth the read. Franklin makes some good points. It's time to step up and start solving some problems that are starting to really hurt college football.

Everyone comes from somewhere. Every sec commish, executive, etc. At some point, you have to trust some people to set aside bias for a former institution. Roy Kramer came from Vandy and certainly showed no bias towards it as SEC commish. What makes you think Saban can't do this just as well as everyone else?

Do you think Šaban will also be biased towards Michigan State, LSU, Toledo, and Kent State?

As we saw with Fulmer, a good coach doesn't necessarily mean you can do other jobs just as well.

Besides that, I think Miss Terry might hurt the man if he threw himself into another high pressure job. It's pretty clear he's enjoying being a TV talking head and he can do that job easily, collect a nice check, see a lot of ballgames, and be at home for the off-season with no responsibilities at all.

He just left hell, so why would he step back in the flames?

On paper, I agree with virtually everything Saban has said regarding the current state of college football, NIL and the transfer portal. Definitely, we cannot go on much longer without significant changes.

Possibly an appointed commissioner of college athletics would be able to propose the sort of common sense legislation needed. Sadly, even with my disdain for Alabama; I can’t think of anyone better than Saban for such a role.

Saban hates the current state of college football and even though we all hated him coaching at Bama, he probably would be good to help put some rules in place to help things
He’d be good if the lawyers would let him run the show…but ultimately they wouldn’t and he’d be about as impactful as he was as an Alabama consultant this year.

No such position exists, nor will it.

What would having a commissioner solve? I highly doubt the conferences are going to give up the control they have now.

That's actually the point of the story. There is currently no leadership to make executive decisions, and it's time for some. (the NCAA is a proven impotent bureaucracy.) Make some basic transparent ground rules- limits on transfers, cap NIL, etc.

OK Let me see if I got this straight. You think Nick Saban should be the commisioner. AND? You use James Franklin as the influencial expert to convince Tennessee fans of the validity of the whole damn thing?

Yeah. Sure.

Long before he accepted the Indwelling and became Lucifer’s Vessel, Nick Saban attended Kent State. I believe that he was there from 1969 - 1973, which means that he was present during the National Guard presence and the tragic shooting. He remained enrolled and played varsity football 70 - 72, graduating in Spring of 73.
