Frank Anderson still being linked to Giants openings

I’m shocked Frank would jump to the MLB. While he is an excellent pitching coach, I don’t think he translates to MLB. If he is in the MLB for longer 18 months I’ll be even more surprised. Perhaps Tony is having difficulty hiring a pitching coach already in the MLB. Wonder what role Frank is taking.

Oy Vey. This is getting interesting - and not in a great and positive way.

They announced a pitching coach hire yesterday.

Ok I’m sad again. First coach Q and now Anderson. Love CTV but wish he would leave the VOL staff alone. Excited but nervous about the upcoming season.

I'm happy for coach. It's every baseball players dream. He didn't have much time left in the game. I'm glad he gets to realize his dream.

It sucks, but we'll be ok, and he gets to fulfill a dream. No hate here, do big things and rep us.

Seems like kind of a cheap shot by Rogers. Fall ball is over. No official practices can take place. No need for Anderson to stick around for “a 2 weeks notice” when Josh Reynolds is ready to take over. Frank the Tank needs to sell his Knox condo and buy one in San Fran. Rumor is one of Haslam’s buddies has already bought the Vitello home….
Thought Tony was keeping the Knoxville house?

MLB is the goal for every kid…and lots of coaches too. The dream is the dream, that doesn’t, shouldn’t, change.

It’s a new chapter, we’ve been here before.

Bubble gum cards.

GBO!!!

That's where I'm at. Its The Show. The literal big leagues. Its kinda awesome when you think about it.

I fault no lifelong baseball person for going. Not even a little bit. Especially a guys like CFA or McCann. Entire careers in college baseball and the vast majority of it grinding away- I'm not sure they ever allowed themselves to dream about actually being in MLB, much less an org like the Giants. Even a guy like Q that got a bad taste in his first exposure now has a chance to go back and do it his way.

To me, its also a pretty healthy sign that every single move has been followed by a near immediate replacement. It doesn't feel like some chaotic transition, from the outside it actually looks like a pretty healthy organization. Kivett moved up and CJE immediately hired Florida's AHC to fill out that section. Q vouches for Knoll, and even stays around to help with the transition. Reynolds was waiting in the wings to step in for CFA. If/When McCann heads to SF, his replacement is already in the building and known to everybody.

Obviously no guarantees they all work out, but Lord knows we've seen enough nonsense around here in just about every sport to know when something actually looks rudderless.

I wouldn't feel as bad if this type of "once in a lifetime opportunity" stuff would happen at other places besides Tennessee. Like let this crap happen to LSU, Texas, Arkansas, etc., we've had enough BS crap happen in all sports since 2008. Tennessee deserves a break IMO

Both Texas and LSU forced out coaches in about the past 16 months and 36 months or so, respectively, and Arkansas has only gotten agonizingly close to winning it all. Tennessee winning the national championship is a pretty good break, in my opinion.

They are, aren't they.?.. Over any little thing that happens. Seems to be a trend on this site.... hopefully you're handling it well...
I’m not…
This stinks!
First Tony and now my guy Frank?!
This is like your wife leaving you but then you hook up with her hot sister, only for her to drop you 3 weeks later when you were just starting to regain your confidence and feel good about yourself.
😩

Agreed. McCann is 100% gone/going. TN arguably lost the best head coach, best S&C coach, best pitching coach, and best scouting director/video coordinator/analytics in college baseball. Impossible not to have a drop off IMHO. All were highly passionate, had tons of experience, and uber competitive.
Now, it’s up to the new dream team of coaches to take the baton…. They have their work cut out for them. I don’t get the hate for CTV or for these coaches going to MLB. It’s a dream come true for any baseball coach.

People hating on these coaches going from College Ranks to MLB are just SELFISH individuals....

I have to be happy for Frank. He was great to Kirby as a player and a coach. Maybe he gets to spend more time with family. Has a new connection with his son, Brett. What a way to end a career. He’s done a little of everything
Agreed. All 4 of the coaches more than earned this opportunity. Kirby is now in the driver’s seat to help Josh Reynolds and the team persevere through all of this massive change.
