Aside from Fowler not liking the Vols, he’s a lousy commentator. He makes some incredibly stupid comments every game. I bet Herbstreit cringes internally on a regular basis.
My little secrete that many here could benefit from is to mute the sound button and just watch the game without all the piped in noise and biased commentaryI have not and will not give either of them a listen.
I loathe ESPN as much as humanly possible.
Vol Network is exponentially more informative and entertaining.
This was as bad a FL team as I have seen since I started watching SEC in 1985. Nice to win @FL but lets not put this game down as a difference maker. A loss would change TN's direction but a win does little considering the state of the FL program. The SEC is brutal these days; the level of parity now is more similar to the NFL. I don't think people realize how good Florida is in spite their 3-8 record. They beat Texas, they nearly beat Georgia, and gave Ole Miss a run for their money. They've had 1 bad game this year (against Kentucky) and that's it.
They were fired up and we won on both sides of the ball. That was a Florida team still fighting into the 4th Quarter; they never gave up until the last 2 minutes when the writing was on the wall. There's a reason we still had Joey out there until the very end.
It was a very good win for us. We hit that FG against Georgia, and we're playing for a Playoff spot this week against Vandy.
Anyone complaining or trying to diminish this should be shut down immediately. This was, effectively, a blow-out win in the Swamp. That's rare to get.
Unlike most on here, I agree. They weren’t hungry and it showed. We’ve been like that at the end of each last season of coaching change.I am not really a fan of either Fowler or Herbstreit. However, I thought that they were fair in their commentary last night. They talked about how good our tempo offense is and how we usually keep the pedal to the metal. He did say that Florida came out uninspired and seemed "flat" and "depleted". But the way they were playing, I can see why he would say that. I'm not usually a fan of the Herbie and Fowler show, but I thought that they actually were being fair in their commentary on the game last night.
I watched a couple of Florida Homer YouTube channel guys today talking about the game after the loss. They were hard pressed going all the way back into the '80s to find a game where the Gators had been dominated worse in the swamp. The SEC is brutal these days; the level of parity now is more similar to the NFL. FL had 13 players unavailable with about 5 of those on the 2-deep chart. TN had 6 unavailable with 4 in the 2-deep. And contrary to some insisting they've been wracked by opt-outs, I only found one WR who didn't crack the 2-deep and has just two catches this year.Florida did have had 20 scholarship players out with injury, and they are a whipped bunch, that's fair to point out whether Zach Ragan likes it or not. Nonetheless UT beat them exactly like you should beat a team like that. Not UT's fault that UF has a bunch of quitters on their team. Heupel was probably too merciful to them, we should have done what Kirby did to Florida State in the Orange Bowl a few years ago.
Ikr, Jerry our QB… give me a break..They renamed half our team and going in and out of breaks liked to say Florida was leading, it was an embarrassment for what is considered one of their top announcing teams.
Ikr Herbie was having to correct him at times and sort of reluctantly stick up for the VolsAside from Fowler not liking the Vols, he’s a lousy commentator. He makes some incredibly stupid comments every game. I bet Herbstreit cringes internally on a regular basis.
The tweet I saw from before the game actually said 20% of their scholarship players, not 20. Here is my post about it from THURSDAY, which I posted due to other posters quaking in their boots about big bad Florida, so I'm saying the same thing after the game that I said before the game.FL had 13 players unavailable with about 5 of those on the 2-deep chart. TN had 6 unavailable with 4 in the 2-deep. And contrary to some insisting they've been wracked by opt-outs, I only found one WR who didn't crack the 2-deep and has just two catches this year.
A vulnerable gator team for sure, but let's not assist their embellishing.
