I thought Butch welcomed former players and was the opposite of Dools in that regard?

It could be he was a former media member. Maybe he said something CBJ didnt like. Butch doesnt seem too fond of the media anyway.

Idk, just seems like if this were true we would have heard from more than 1 player.

Idk, just seems like if this were true we would have heard from more than 1 single player.

Chris Treece is a former radio host before he got fired for Domestic assault. Media member. Wont say what he is saying isnt true or is because Im not anformer player, but there could be a grudge here.

I happen to know a couple of former All American players at other SEC schools - one at UF is a season ticket holder (he pays for that) and another at UGA is like any other fan. He doesn't have season tickets and if he wants to go to a single game, he searches for a ticket like other fans.

I think we have a game each year that the former players are invited to but don't know if this is a fact. I think access to facilities was denied to former players under Dooley but isn't denied now. I don't think this access means that former players get free tickets to games...but I could be wrong!

Pretty sure this is nothing new. You're a college grad (or had every opportunity to be) so buy your own ticket

Why would any former UT player ever talk to that bozo who has never shown any respect for the University of Tennessee.

Doesn't CBJ do a VFL weekend every year? I'm not saying those guys shouldn't be treated special however are you going to give up 3 million in donations on a yearly basis to open up a sky box for letterman?

I don't see the big deal either. You just hear about it every once in awhile.

From what I understand, former players have more access to the program than the last guy so

😂 does Chris Treece and Jeff Coleman really deserve free stuff?? I mean I know people who live in trailers, spend all their money on a football ticket, for the love of UT football, and these dudes are complaing? You went to UT to play football (millions of people's dream) and for free. So they can suck it an pay like the plebeians they are. At the end of the day Chris Treece and Jeff Coleman need to understand their place, and its way at the bottom of the list of UT alums. Be thankful you got to experience a dream every UT fan-kid dreamt of, and pay like the rest of us. 😂 it's funny they think they're important though

Somebody give a reason why Chris Treece and Jeff Coleman need to be treated special?? Cause they looking like some teenage girls right now not grateful for wearing the orange. Let's put it this way. They'd put a statue of your boi OAD in Neyland before they even put a poster of Chris Treece in the concorse 😂

I'm sorry....you EXPECT free tickets & sideline passes becauuuuuuse????

Just another example of entitlement by people who for some reason think they should be given things in life!
NO ONE OWES YOU ANYTHING

James Wilhoit tweeted that all former players are given free tkts to 1 game/year. I've had tkts for almost 40 years & haven't ever been given any free ones. Don't expect them...haven't earned them!

Yes, you played at UT & I believe that 4 years of free school was your reward

:eek:lol:A close friend of mine played tailback for Tennessee for 3 years. After graduation, he purchased 4 tickets on the east side about 20 rows up in section C and held them for years without any donation. Then UT informed him that to hold the seats he would have to donate several hundred dollars per year. He did not donate and they reassigned him to a horrible seats in the north end zone. He holds several football records, etc. That is how UT treats former players. Ask Curt Watson as they "screwed" him too...he no longer attends games.

😂 oh no not the north end zone...... so sad!!!! Tell that pansy to get over himself. No one is bigger than UT, the fans, and the people who donate money. We're the reasons they got to play. That pansy ass tailback needs to get over himself, cause we payed his way. The last thing he can do is either donate or move for people who continue to let kids live dreams.

And who the hell is Curt Watson? 😂 Who cares if freaking Curt Watson goes to the games. It's basically a bunch of players, who will be forgotten as time goes on, that seem to be mad about paying smh.

Message to the players: UT will be here after your gone, the fans will cheer for UT after your gone, and there will be better players who play at UT as time goes on. So get over yourself and be thankful you got to experience a once in a lifetime experience . Crap pisses me off

It sounds reasonable, but consider the numbers. If we gave tickets to former football players, I am estimating that would be about 2000 tickets per game.

I am sure my math is off, but I am going back 40 years (someone mentioned Curt Watson, so I guess we could go longer) with 25 new players per year (guesstimate), that is 1000 players (you would have to give them a pair right?).

Can you image 2000 sideline passes per game?

There is a pecking order even for former players because you can't invite or bring everyone who wants to do whatever.

Certain guys, like a Peyton Manning, are school royalty and get accomodations whenever they want.

However, for other guys you have to make choices. And usually, those choices are made based on who the coach is.

Example, Curt Maggitt or Terry Fair ask for a sideline pass. You can only give it to one. Who gets it? Maggitt because Butch Jones is the coach and Maggitt played for Jones, Fair didn't.

This happened in 2008 with Florida when they played for the national title and a lot of guys who played for Meyer's 2006 team were able to get taken care of while several of Spurrier's guys weren't

The other factor, which a lot of former players won't admit to, is that if you aren't around but show up and make a request out of the blue without keeping contact with anybody for years.....yeah, you get treated differently. Some former players are like regular fans, they're nowhere to be found until the team makes it to the SEC Championship game or something and then they want tickets or passes.
