Former Players call for Dooley's Departure

Not enough big names for what? It's not like they need these people's approval to fire Dools. They're just former players giving their opinion, which happens to be the opinion of most.

Not here in Southern Middle Tennessee where I live, most here saying patients they believe Dooley is doing a good enough job to be retained for another year or two. But I live in an older community age wise and we all think any head coach deserves 4 years. As for spending money outside of tickets a tank full of gas a 3 hr ride each way maybe a burger or two rarely in Knoxville over 4 or 5 hrs max as we usually do the up and back same game day.

it's safe to say pretty much all former players follow the team and it's a safe bet there's not much postive coming out of their mouths. But anyone who is in a position of Sportscaster or writer probably has a advantage over those who are not. It's their business to comment...

Manning? Who exactly do you think would have Gruden's ear at this stage?

Daddy Reveiz gave a blistering critique during the post game radio show with Hyams.

Don't think Eric Berry's gonna give a ringing endorsement.

I really wish I understood and I've never been a Dooley basher....

Just WHO gives a rat's behind about what a former kicker thinks??? :salute:

Terry Fair, Leonard Little and Stephen White haven't been too complimentary on twitter either. Players that have played this game before know that this isn't a well coached team. However, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you're giving up 500 yards a game in the SEC then the coaches aren't getting it done.

When a former great kicker offers to help our kickers and is rebuffed...face it ahem...whoever is in charge of the kicking specialists has failed...miserably... and could use the help imo. He had two sons play at UT, why should his opinion be worth less than say Berry's?

I'm so sick of the comparisons to Spurrier at SC, even though Ainge used it a bit differently.
I agree. It's comparing apples to oranges. South Carolina has been, traditionally, a lower tier SEC team...faring no better than UK and Vandy. One reason, like those teams, is it is incredibly hard to recruit to. Using Spurrier as a benchmark is also fallacious in the sense that he is an example of a BIG name hire. We haven't had that yet...and that's why we are getting what we paid for.

I'll say another thing. Dooley, by all accounts, was done after the KY game last year. When 80% of your staff bails on you, it's time to move in a completely different direction. Why? Because you are not going to be able to find enough quality staff replacements. Graham and Pittman were the only good ones. Coiner might be too. But it put's the HC between a rock and a hard place. The only way to be "fair" is just bite the bullet, clean the slate and hire the type of coach we should have, in the first place.

Budget hires get you budget-level results. Simple as that.

I think they are about two weeks late. Dooley's services will not be retained.

Can we bump some of the threads about how big of an idiot and drug addict Ainge was when he talked negatively about DD?

Pi$$es me off when I see people do that...If any of you played football you know how much your body is going to hurt later on in life....And sometimes you got to take some pills for relief but for some people it becomes an addiction...Glad to see he beat it.

Exactly. He had a problem was open about his recovery and this is how people act. On top of that what he said was very fair to Dooley. He said while it took Spurrier 5 yrs they won some games along the way something Dooley has not. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN UT HISTORY TN 0-5 TO START CONFERENCE PLAY. Coming close to winning games does not count after 3yrs of playing ranked teams. The way (or lack of) Dooley handled the Ky loss last year sure did not help him either. If I was the coach who ruined a 26 year streak, the fans would know I understood what that meant to the program.

Learn the rules about coaches allowed to coach players before making foolish comments. And the people that liked your post should check it out as well.
If palardy wants outside help, he can go pay for it or go to a kicking camp. Random former players can't walk into the complex and coach. It's a violation.

I think people took my post incorrectly. I have always liked Ainge, respected what he has said and having overcome similar demons in my life, respect him for his strength to conquer those demons. What I was referring to was the fact that everybody discounted what he said about Dooley from the beginning bc they didn't want to believe the truths he spoke. They pulled his problems in life as the reason to discount his words while he has been spot on since the beginning.
