For those who don't understand the playoffs selection...

You obviously don’t understand how the predictor works.

18% is the over all chance of making the playoffs (I.e. having to run the table completely).

Math and comprehension are hard, I know.
You put in their record in their 3 toughest games and it shows you the prediction from there at the bottom. I know understand apps and percents are hard

It will be total losses that come into play - if Bama loses 3 SEC games then they have 4 losses and they are not making the playoffs with 4 losses.

If they were to lose 2 SEC games then they need to play in the championship game and win because they are not making the playoffs with 3 losses.
My response was to someone saying he just wants to win the SEC and not worry about getting in

They will need to win out and get help. If we get there and get embarrassed again, I'd rather not make the playoffs. A lot of things needs fixed in these last stretch of games.
I agree we need help getting in, but I disagree about rather not getting if we get beat in the first round again...in this new era getting in the playoffs is a big deal and every team's goal.

As I stated in the long playoff prediction thread, UT is in at 10-2..period.

If you want to argue they will lose to Oklahoma or Florida or whatever fine...do your Eeyore routine. But 10-2 will put UT in the playoff

Is 10-2 good enough to make playoffs? Sure.. but we would need some help along the way. Need others to lose a couple games. They are not letting 5 sec teams in. 4? Maybe.. bama, uga, txam ole miss as it sits today. Would need ole miss to drop 2 games. Need tx am to drop 2 games.

The poll predictor is interesting - if GT loses to Georgia and then loses the ACC conference game their chances drop to 13%. If they don't make the ACC game and only lose to Georgia it is like 81%.

If Virigina wins out but doesn't make the ACC game, their chances are just 16% so basically they need to win the ACC.

GT is overly reliant on King and he is banged up every single week. As long as he is healthy, they will give anyone fits. But that style of play really takes its toll the later you get into the season. King was a lot more fresh against UGA a year ago after missing a couple games to an injury.
No wishing anybody to get hurt but as you said, GT is overly reliant on King and he runs like a FB - takes a lot of hits. They should be 11-0 going into the Georgia game…how will this committee handle GT if they lose King for the season against Georgia? They’d be 11-1 and playing in the CG game…but without King they aren’t a top 25 team IMO

We don’t need any help. Ole miss will lose a game but it’s not required. We don’t care what Texas A&M is a lock either way

The contenders remaining schedule of tough teams and my prediction of results:
Vanderbilt---Missouri, Tenn. Texas----- 1/2
Texas--- Ms. State. Vanderbilt, Ga. Tx AM---2/2
Ole Miss.--- Okla. Fl. @Ms. State-- 2/1
Missouri-- Vanderbilt, Tx AM , Ms. State, Okla. 2/2
LSU--- Tx Am , Alabama, Okla. 1/2
Okla.--- Alabama, Tenn. Missouri, LSU---2/2
Ga.--- Florida, Texas--- 2/0
Alabama will win out
Now if we win out and the above happens, where are we?

Too much math for me. I'm good at navigation math. Sports math, not so much.

For me, it's the eye test. Sorry, but the Vols don't pass it right now. 5-2, 5 to go. 1 is a given. The other 4...who knows? I just don't think this team...especially the defense...is playoff caliber.

Let's see how it plays out. I'm wrong a lot. But if I had to place my chip on a spot on the table, I'd go with "Doesn't make the playoff" right now. Does that make me a NegaVol? I don't think so. Been a Vol fan since I was watchpocket high. But time, age, and experience have taught me how to look at things with an unbiased eye. And I don't see UT doing it this year. That's just where I am.

I do agree that bowl games mean even less than they did before the CFP. So if UT does end up in a bowl game, I could not care less as to which, where, or against whom. Or even winning. Glorified scrimmage against another non-CFP team. Chance to let the youngers get a feel for the big time. Extra practices for next year. And little more. Josh probably doesn't want a tub of Mayo dumped on him as a victory salute, and that's a trophy I toss in the nearest dumpster on my way back to Knoxville.

Honestly, at this point? Just beat Vandy. Like a rented mule. Do that, and a 9-3 or 8-4 finish are so much easier to accept.

I get it, if we lose another one, then it is hoping for a bowl in a warm place. I just want to add Florida to that beat the brakes off along with Vanderbilt.

UT has to win out and Mizery and Ole Miss need another loss for UT to make it. It will only be 4 teams so we no longer control our own destiny.

Mizery has a pretty tough row to hold. Need aTm to beat them badly and it would be nice if MSST or Arky give them #3.

Ole Piss is who I'm worried about the most because they have a pretty easy schedule and are a pretty good team.
And why to we want to get in the playoffs and be a laughing stock of the country again? We are only Great against teams at the bottom of the sec and non conference games. We are not ready for the big dogs.

The Bana and Georgia fans at my work seem to think they are the lock for the SEC championship this year, but as far as the playoffs… who the heck knows? 😂

No, I do not subscribe to this 😂 when we are hot, we are hot.. the Ohio game was an anomaly imo and I’m pretty sure there was a lot if Nico drama going on behind the scenes.. add to that everyone (-and not just a problem for us)… opting out for post season games due to not wanting to be injured, draft stock, they scared.. whatevs lol
