I lived in West Virginia so I pay close attention to the Mountaneers. I like them and Tennessee. 1a) Tennessee 1b)WVU. I remember Rich Rod leaving WVU high and dry for Michigan and they were in a tight spot leaving them with an intern coach Bill Stewart. After he SLAUGHTERED Oklahoma in the BCS bowl they named him head coach. After three years they fired him and hired Holgerson and the rest is history. The reason I mention this is because he took over WVU in a desperate time much like Dooley did us. And while Stewart kept them afloat, it was GLARINGLY OBVIOUS that the job he was doing wasn't up to WVU standards. He was a great man much like Dooley, but an average coach much like Dooley. If WVU would have kept him much longer it would have set them back for years. Now is the time. After this year the recruits and parents will see right thru what Dooley's selling. Dooley has done a fine job of rebuilding a solid foundation, I swear he has. But that won't last. See, firing him wont set the program back...not firing him will. He's a stop gap coach. Now it's time to get a proven winner to build on the foundation Dooley has laid. His ceiling has been reach. If being a good guy is what it took to be a good coach then Nick Saban would be a failure. There's NOTHING in Dooley's history that points towards him being a good coach, nothing.
Very well said.
