Football team will dedicate Saturday's game to Jay Rogers

I am so heart broken for his family but so proud of Jay. He is truly an inspiration to everybody, not just Volunteer faithful.

Fans of other schools have been posting words of encouragement on his page. An Arky fan said he would wear orange Saturday in honor of Jay

Arthur Ray Jr (Michigan State Footballer, Bone cancer survivor) and Danny O'Brien signing the FB page back to back is pretty stinking awesome, in my opinion.

If this is Jay's time, I pray he goes peacefully. My fondest wish right now would be that he could last until Saturday and see the Vols bring home a victory for him, not for the selfish reason of winning(which I do want to win), but so he could leave this world with the biggest smile on his face. I'm afraid of sounding selfish, but it's not about wanting it for me, it's about wanting it for him. I wish I had more than prayers to give. My heart aches for him and his family while being filled with awe by his strength, his courage, and his love. God bless him. I hope he knows how many lives he has touched.

I've heard about players(current and former) and Fulmer contacting Jay, but does anyone know if Dooley has? Just curious, so please don't read more into the question than is there.

I will say this, I know the odds are against us this Saturday, but if this team pulls out a victory over Bama, with Jay's story on my mind, I will bawl like a little girl.

I don't have a Facebook page. Jay thank you for showing me how great God is. You have touched a life here in South Carolina. I pray God shows you how awesome you are and how may lives you have touched. You are my hero!

Really don't know what to say to this young man, I'm more than three times his age and at a time in life when you know that your time is winding down. At 20 years of age he should be entering his prime and enjoying life. I'm sorry for rambling on, it's just that this story bothers and makes me sad. But I do know that God has a plan for all of us. Be strong young man and may God take care of you and your family.

If Dooley is smart, and sometimes I wonder, he would use this, Jay's story, (A very special young man) to motivate and refocus the team amid all the distractions. Jay's story could very well be the thing to keep the team together and not falling apart with a split locker room. What a great life story, however sad it may be, to use to teach the kids to live each and every day like it may be your last and knowing that you will be judged by the things that you have done, weather it may be by the fans, Coaches, or A Higher Being.

May God Bless Jay and his Family, he has really touched my heart, as well as all of volnation and especially the team and former players for stepping up to try to comfort this young man. You are all truly VFL.

This is one time I'm rooting for the Vols to win. Jay has more courage then I can imagine. I'm sitting here wiping my eyes. I hope That Jay get's his wish and my family's hearts and prayers go out to Jay and his family.

He's the only thing that will be on my mind for awhile. Stay strong and #winforJay

Wow, Herman Lathers knows how to hit the point home:

Here is what he posted:

During this tough time everyone pretty much has the same thing to say. But as a former bone cancer survivor, I know what you're going through. As a man of god, I found out that God never puts more on you than you can bear. Jay, you were chosen by God to be a light and a testament to those who have come in contact with you and those who may have just heard your story for the first time. As i always tell myself and I will tell you, Ears have not heard and eyes have not seen what God has in store for you. It may not be what your family or friends want, but God knows best. He's the only doctor that really knows whats best for you. You've suffered a little for everything God has next for you. I pray that as you go through this tough time that you continue to keep your faith in the hand of the Lord because he truly has his hands on you! We will play this game for you this weekend, but we want you to know win, lose, or draw everything will be done to the best of our abilities and with you in mind. Your life has been a journey, but now you're getting ready to arrive at the destination that God wants you at. No one knows but him. The volunteer family loves you man! VFL!!!

Thats an awesome testimony and I had goosebumps reading this.

If there was an "awesome post" thread, this post would be in it.

:good!::hi:

As a relative outsider, Im not certain of the Vols chances but it would be a thing of beauty if they could pull off a win here. No doubt.
