Football team will dedicate Saturday's game to Jay Rogers

Prayers continuing for Jay. He and the volnation are very inspiring. Thanks goes out to everyone that used their platform and contacts to help this young man.

This is the best thread I've ever read and been a part of on VN. Thank you again Mrs. Terry and Brandon (tvols75), and any others who made this possible. Still hoping and praying for a miracle for young Jay.

First let me say our prayers and thoughts are with Jay and his family. I would like to thank tvols75 for sharing such an emotional story. I have been following this post on facebook and twitter since the first post. As my eyes are swollen I have to say that I couldn't be more proud of the Vol Nation than I am today. I remember walking out of the stadium after the 98 NC game and the pride I felt in my team. Today tops that day. The way the fans, the players and the coaches have all come together to rally behind a brave young man named Jay is simply astonishing. Again thank you tvols75 for bringing Jay's story to our attention. This Saturday we will be JAYSTONG against Bama. GBO VFL

Tears me to pieces every time I think about jay. I go to UT Martin just miles from jay and its amazing how much support he's gotten from all over the country. Just today word came out a young lady in one of our sororities has stage three ovarian cancer. In the prime of her life just like jay. Please keep both in your prayers you never know what tomorrow holds. GBO #jayswarriors

id be happy to contribute in some fashion, split the cost, pay for it all or whatever. i wont be in town until late Friday night. if there is anything i can do, please let me know.

Early Saturday morning might be best - should be able to make it untainted all day.

Just now coming across this thread. The amount of support for this little guy is remarkable. Never been more proud to be a Vol than today!

During this tough time everyone pretty much has the same thing to say. But as a former bone cancer survivor, I know what you're going through. As a man of god, I found out that God never puts more on you than you can bear. Jay, you were chosen by God to be a light and a testament to those who have come in contact with you and those who may have just heard your story for the first time. As i always tell myself and I will tell you, Ears have not heard and eyes have not seen what God has in store for you. It may not be what your family or friends want, but God knows best. He's the only doctor that really knows whats best for you. You've suffered a little for everything God has next for you. I pray that as you go through this tough time that you continue to keep your faith in the hand of the Lord because he truly has his hands on you! We will play this game for you this weekend, but we want you to know win, lose, or draw everything will be done to the best of our abilities and with you in mind. Your life has been a journey, but now you're getting ready to arrive at the destination that God wants you at. No one knows but him. The volunteer family loves you man! VFL!!!

Wow. Very inspirational words.

His mom posted this on his CaringBridge page:

We continue by Jays bedside and watch as his breathing becomes more and more shallow. But looking at his face he is at peace. Daddy and I have told him that we will take care of Daniel, Jenny, Ella and each other, go get your reward. God Bless everyone for their outpouring of love for Jay and us as he leaves this life behind. Jay's Warrriors facebook page has exceded over 20,000 likes as of this evening. We have told him of all that is taking place on the page and have held the phone up to him for all those who have called to lend their support. If he could still speak he would humbly say that he is no hero, just a servant of God. Love to you all.

I am so heart broken for his family but so proud of Jay. He is truly an inspiration to everybody, not just Volunteer faithful.

Prayers from South Bend Indiana.

This right here is what makes me proud to be a VOL. It is not about wins or loses but about people. This is the true mean of Vol, to lend a hand to those in need and to come to the aid of those around us.
