Football article is wrong to volnation 58th in nation

This is 8-4 team in any other conference. We'll need some luck to be 7-5/6-6.

ACC? I disagree. Big 12? I disagree. Big 10? I disagree. PAC whatever? Still don't see it. We have to tighten up the program to catch up, then we can utilize our recruiting classes. Such total lack of structure makes UT football the naked man when the tide goes out (aka the fourth quarter.)

Everyone else is banking on improving just like the VOLS. Time will tell but the ranking is right or better than it should be until they show they can play legit SEC football.

True, but not everyone else fired a BJ and hired a real football coach, completely cleaned and replaced a very flawed coaching staff, and then hired a support staff to rival Bama. There's expectation of improvement for cause and then the old trite expectation because all coaches say they'll be better next year.

Granted our recent past is nothing to respect, but media showed their ability to analyze picking our b-ball team 13th in SEC.

I'm excited for the change. Having a more traditional offense, a coaching support staff in place, and a strict disciplined staff with a culture of winning is the recipe for success. But expectations have to be tempered against learning new offensive and defensive schemes, a monster schedule, and a reported complacent football culture. I want them to succeed as much as anyone but most of the staff are first time on-field coaches, new to the SEC or new coordinators/head coach. The staff will have a learning curve just like the players.

I honestly think we find a way to beat everyone in the SECeast not named Georgia next season.

Sure Florida, SCAR, Mizzou and Ky will be tough games. I don't see blowing any of them out or being blown out by them. Vandy too but they will get special attention from CJP and the Seniors.

We still have as good or greater talent then all of them.

Now we have two things that were woefully missing the past five years: coaches that develop players and game day coaches. You just can't underestimate how much of a difference that makes. Last year it would have been 4 or 5 more wins.

Adams is an idiot but honestly, we shouldnt be ranked any higher than we are. Nor should we be picked any higher than dead last in the East.

I am excited about Pruitt and his staff, but until the results are seen on the field, no respect should be given.

Agree, but I'd trade the word respect for hype.

I don’t like this article. Seems like they aren’t trusting Pruitt and company.:thud:

This may come as a shock to you, but not everyone believes you when you say things like "Smart cant beat Pruitt/Mullin and however else you named"

To get people to believe you, there generally needs to be some logic behind it.

Its perfectly reasonable to have doubts about a 1st time head coach taking over a team that didnt win a game in conference last season.

Luck is an acronym for L.abor U.nder C.orrect. K.nowledge when preparation meets opportunity.

A good quote in support of this is, "I am a great believer in luck. The harder I work, the more of it I seem to have."1

I trusted Kiffin was the right hire. I trusted Dooley was the right hire. I trusted Butch was the right hire. I am DONE with trusting the HEADS running this university. Pruitt was like our 10th choice it seems. We should have every top coach in the country wanting to coach here!

If you haven't noticed since we won the NC in 1998 (1999 to the present) we are 142-97 and 76-76 in the SEC. That's a .594 winning % and obviously .500 in the SEC.

If we want to make it a round number and list our performance in the 21st century then we are 125-90 (.581 win %) with a 65-71 record in the SEC. which is a .478 win %.

Just embarrassing.

isn't that more a YOU issue? you're going to hold this staff, and the new fulmer administration over there accountable for the failings of the last 10 years, failings that this administration and staff were brought in to fix...i mean, specifically, exactly, that's what they're here to fix...and now, you've had enough? no more wool being pulled over your eyes?

good timing.

I clicked on this thread to see the link. It said KnoxNews. Did not even read it.

Do you realize that this is an opinion from someone with a journalism degree who is commissioned by a corporation to make them money? And then to get emotional about it!

What the crap is wrong with you? :thud:

Yes, I guess it is me. I want to us to succeed but I guess I am just frustrated. Failure here isn't something we are accustomed too yet failure is what we have experienced since 98.

oh, i think we're accustomed to it.

i think a lot of the pessimism that exists today is directly attributable to the ills of the last 10ish years. how can it not be?

but again, that's what this administration and staff was brought here to fix.

doesn't mean they will.

but i'd be hard pressed to find anyone that doesn't think that this change has a much different feel to it, than any of the other 3 we've had over that time frame.

and it does suck, cause it's going to require some level of patience from a fan base that's by all rights just sick and tired of being told "be patient".

we've been thru it all the last 10-15 years.

but that's not this staff's fault. they need to understand that, acknowledge it even. and i think they do, and have. i know fulmer knows that.

but i can't hold them accountable for the last 10ish years. just have to move forward. nothing can be done about what's already happened.

Not remotely true. They ain’t going 8-4 in either the ACC or Big 10 conferences, which are both better conferences than the SEC right now.

Disagree. Particularly if in B10 west or ACC coastal. We beat the 2nd and 3rd best teams (GT and VT) in Coastal las two yrs. Big 10 West sucks outside of Wisconsin. We whipped Iowa and Nebraska in back to back yrs.
