Not remotely true. They ain’t going 8-4 in either the ACC or Big 10 conferences, which are both better conferences than the SEC right now.

Disagree. Particularly if in B10 west or ACC coastal. We beat the 2nd and 3rd best teams (GT and VT) in Coastal las two yrs. Big 10 West sucks outside of Wisconsin. We whipped Iowa and Nebraska in back to back yrs.

none of that changes who we actually play.....

isn't that more a YOU issue? you're going to hold this staff, and the new fulmer administration over there accountable for the failings of the last 10 years, failings that this administration and staff were brought in to fix...i mean, specifically, exactly, that's what they're here to fix...and now, you've had enough? no more wool being pulled over your eyes?

good timing.

Ready,....,

FIRE........

Aim.

I trusted Kiffin was the right hire. I trusted Dooley was the right hire. I trusted Butch was the right hire. I am DONE with trusting the HEADS running this university. Pruitt was like our 10th choice it seems. We should have every top coach in the country wanting to coach here!

If you haven't noticed since we won the NC in 1998 (1999 to the present) we are 142-97 and 76-76 in the SEC. That's a .594 winning % and obviously .500 in the SEC.

If we want to make it a round number and list our performance in the 21st century then we are 125-90 (.581 win %) with a 65-71 record in the SEC. which is a .478 win %.

Just embarrassing.

You are missing the point. This wasn't about just finding a new football coach; the change went much deeper. We've had three foolish ADs selecting failed coaches - foolish because none of them knew what they didn't know. I don't have a crystal ball, and pretty sure you don't either, so neither of us can predict how this will all turn out, but it's like having adults back in control of the program. UT broke the mold of former football coaches as AD with the hiring of Hamilton; he and his two successors are ample evidence of the failure in that policy.

It begins with understanding priorities. The football program makes or breaks all UT athletics. The single biggest requirement for the AD is to find and support/mentor a good football HC - anything else can be delegated to bean counters. If you want a good surgeon, you don't generally ask a plumber or electrician for a reference; you ask a medical profession who knows the choices. So why have we kept putting people with sports management or business degrees in a position as AD? That's fixed - priority one. Fulmer has hired a HC with a background and the skill set that he thinks will be successful - priority two. The rest have to play out, and we'll find out whether Fulmer made the right choice, but it's hard to do worse than the last three clowns in the AD did.

Fulmer went back to some successful coach/ADs for words of wisdom on how to work with and support his coach. Barry Alverez at WI offered these thoughts to Fulmer.

“He made a statement to me that he feels sorry for the other athletic directors when he goes to meetings because most of them haven’t been on the field or on the sideline and don’t understand how to coach,” Fulmer said. “They understand about the other things on the business side or whatever they might be. In dealing with coaches and young people, he felt like he has an advantage. I felt like that’s probably true.”
