Saturday marks the first time I've been home in 2 years! First time I've been to a vol game since Tebow and co smashed us in 2008. I love what I do, but there's nothing like a game in neyland!
So please don't tell me to sit down ;P
VB!
I'm stuck in LA and can't make that 12 hr drive! Sad day![]()
But what are the risks of getting ripped off by scalpers? That's the only thing I'm apprehensive about. Is there any way to tell right there on the spot if they're fake?
Unless work has you tied down, coming or going, you actually can do the drive. Not in 12 hours unless you mean Louisiana. However, I wouldn't recommend it. When I was younger, more than once, well honestly often, I drove almost coast to coast in a day and a half. The night before, a shelved chill box stood ready. Sandwiches, water, juice, milk, cereal, various nuts and washed fresh fruits were ready. I was in bed by 7PM, got up at 1AM, showered. 2AM the car was on the road. Two tricks were to time your trip to give yourself a one day arrival cushion to allow for delays enroute. The other was use route to I-40 because in New Mexico, had segments that allowed 75mph but I did 80mph in case a rare cop was lurking. Also Texas segments allowed 70mph but I did 75mph, you got a 5-9mph cushion. Stopped only for gas since I had all the food I needed, used paper bowls and plastic spoons for breakfast cereal. First night sleep was either Amarillo, TX or Shamrock, TX depending on traffic or road construction situations. Same thing, up by 1AM, wheels rolling by 2AM. I hit Tennessee between 11AM and noon my second day out. depending on where I was going, I got a hotel, a friend's home or family member's home and crashed until about 6PM-7PM and I was good to go. But again, though I did that often in the past I'd not recommend it. But if you're as crazy as I was back then, it can be done.
Wow, I hated the 10 hr drive from Shreveport (Louisiana) to Atlanta a couple weeks ago. That sucked being stuck in a car for that long. Really wish I could make it but with me gettin off at 6am there is really no chance. Sucks! I will be at a game in Neyland soon!
Then how was there over 109,000 for the Florida game in 2004? Our capacity was 104,000 back then. 5000 of those people couldn't have been media and concessions.
There's no way there are 5000 extra people working concessions, ushers, players, coaches, media, etc.
The numbers are made up. It's a guesstimate. If all 102,455 tickets are distributed then you can bank on an announced attendance of at lease 105,500. Are there that many people there, no. But it sounds good.
Back when I was in school they would issue SRO (Standing Room Only) tickets. That's what was in the Section and Row on the ticket.
