VB!

I wish I could come home this week. Normally come in once a year for Alabama.

Took me a second to understand you. At first I was like, "You can drive to Knoxville from L.A. in 12 hours?" Hell yeah.

Then I was like, "Oh. Yeah. Sorry bout that." :whistling:

Haha yea definitely not able to make that happen. Wish I could make it but don't get off till 6am Saturday morning :(

I'm stuck in LA and can't make that 12 hr drive! Sad day :(

Unless work has you tied down, coming or going, you actually can do the drive. Not in 12 hours unless you mean Louisiana. However, I wouldn't recommend it. When I was younger, more than once, well honestly often, I drove almost coast to coast in a day and a half. The night before, a shelved chill box stood ready. Sandwiches, water, juice, milk, cereal, various nuts and washed fresh fruits were ready. I was in bed by 7PM, got up at 1AM, showered. 2AM the car was on the road. Two tricks were to time your trip to give yourself a one day arrival cushion to allow for delays enroute. The other was use route to I-40 because in New Mexico, had segments that allowed 75mph but I did 80mph in case a rare cop was lurking. Also Texas segments allowed 70mph but I did 75mph, you got a 5-9mph cushion. Stopped only for gas since I had all the food I needed, used paper bowls and plastic spoons for breakfast cereal. First night sleep was either Amarillo, TX or Shamrock, TX depending on traffic or road construction situations. Same thing, up by 1AM, wheels rolling by 2AM. I hit Tennessee between 11AM and noon my second day out. depending on where I was going, I got a hotel, a friend's home or family member's home and crashed until about 6PM-7PM and I was good to go. But again, though I did that often in the past I'd not recommend it. But if you're as crazy as I was back then, it can be done.

But what are the risks of getting ripped off by scalpers? That's the only thing I'm apprehensive about. Is there any way to tell right there on the spot if they're fake?

Chatt, I had this same question a while back. If I may, allow me to share what I got from the fine folks here who gave their advice. Scalpers may or may not be selling legitimate tickets. If with someone, you may or may not get paired seating. At big games, the chances of being fleeced are higher. Stubhub is the SAFEST purchase you can make outside of the UT ticket office. And you can see right away what your seating is and chances of paired tickets are better than a scalper's. In a nutshell, it seems to best steer clear of scalpers, especially if you're desperate for tickets. Your "sucker" probability is higher in such cases.

Need to take the seats out of one side of the stadium, and leave them in the other side for geriatrics like me....LOL. We're all fans, and I just wish there was a way to have it both ways.

Now what do you think the real attendance will be? I'd guess around 105k, which I will be part of. First UT-UF game since 2001. CAN'T WAIT, GBO!!!

108 milling around in the stadium. -- You picked the best two games to attend of the last 13 years. Sweet!!

Wow, I hated the 10 hr drive from Shreveport (Louisiana) to Atlanta a couple weeks ago. That sucked being stuck in a car for that long. Really wish I could make it but with me gettin off at 6am there is really no chance. Sucks! I will be at a game in Neyland soon!

I agree about being car stuck which is why I don't do that anymore, plus I'm much closer to Tennessee now. Barely more than 2 hrs from Knoxville. One thing with the long but fast trips I used to take is that today it's easier. You got iPod to listen to almost anything you want, music, book reading, even listen to a movie. Cruise control handles hills better without switching off. I'd no longer have to imagine myself as a jet fighter pilot while in moderate traffic and passing cars to entertain myself. Or self do debates about the geological features on the area I was driving through.
But now I'm like you, I'd not want to be car trapped.

Yea getting off that Friday morning at 5 and leaving by 7 to make the game Atlanta Friday night took a toll on me a couple days later. No sleep for almost 30 hrs and that car ride, I was wore out! Will def be at the Mississippi St game! Need to meet up with some of y'all and put faces with names!

How does that work? Who are these 3k people who manage to get in and counted without buying tickets?

(BTW not calling you a liar. I've always wondered about this)

Ushers and other staff. Security personnel. Hell, probably even players and coaches are counted lol.

Then how was there over 109,000 for the Florida game in 2004? Our capacity was 104,000 back then. 5000 of those people couldn't have been media and concessions.

There's no way there are 5000 extra people working concessions, ushers, players, coaches, media, etc.

The numbers are made up. It's a guesstimate. If all 102,455 tickets are distributed then you can bank on an announced attendance of at lease 105,500. Are there that many people there, no. But it sounds good.

Back when I was in school they would issue SRO (Standing Room Only) tickets. That's what was in the Section and Row on the ticket.

There are more workers than you think. You don't see them all. With a stadium that big, 2000 people would look like nothing.

Florida Game Officially Sold Out!! :dance2:

In other news, $4million budget shortfall erased overnight!!!:rock:

Seriously? You're talking about the entire staff for both the public and athletic side making up less than 5% of the people in the stadium? And you say there's no way there's that many?

Great news! I was scheduled to work and found out yesterday I don't have too. I'll try to get some tix on gameday. GBO!!!
