I have a good friend that I talk to daily that’s dialed into the Gators. I don’t know what the D will look like. But the offense will be top 3 in the conference.
DJ was certainly impressive as a Freshman thrown to the wolves. If he stays on the path and focuses his development, avoiding the NIL bouncing around and me first crap, he will be pretty special the next 2-3 years for the Gators. Probably will be fun to watch in 11 of their 12 games. In all seriousness our offense looks solid, Lagway’s health notwithstanding.
We just lost some 3rd team depth at RB due to an injury, but Baugh is a monster and the backup Jackson is pretty good too.
From all accounts the new WRs look great, but I’ll need to see it before I believe it.
OL is stacked.
Defense turned the corner last half of the season, hopefully that continues.
In summary, 0-12.
We will see if William Napier can put the pieces together and hopefully choose to not go for 2 again. In all seriousness our offense looks solid, Lagway’s health notwithstanding.

Florida football QB DJ Lagway throws in camp debut, still limited after summer calf injury

Florida football quarterback DJ Lagway made his preseason camp debut on Saturday, taking part in throwing drills while wearing a compression sleeve on his left leg. The sophomore signal-caller has been working back from a strained calf suffered earlier this summer.
It's the same leg Lagway injured last fall when a hamstring strain sidelined him for a week. This time, the Gators are being deliberate with his recovery.
I think their location helps ensure their recruiting maintain a higher baseline. While they haven't been good, I think they've also had less administrative dysfunction than we had pre-Plowman and White. I also don't know the degree this matters to 18-year-olds, who still weren't around to see it, but they also aren't as far removed from their last period of glory as we are.How come the Gators aren’t allowed to have a full decade of dysfunction like us? They always seem to restock after only a few bad years. Can’t we give them some friendly advice on how to completely destroy their program for a longer period of time?
It's interesting to think about what current HS recruits think of Florida right now and what the average memory span is for them.I think their location helps ensure their recruiting maintain a higher baseline. Make no mistake though; UF has underachieved over the last 15 years by at least as much as we did, perhaps more. They have only finished the season ranked 6 times since 2010.
Napier's early recruits would have remembered Mullen, for sure. The Tebow/Meyer years are ancient history, but Tebow still being a very public figure (who won a Heisman and multiple titles) who is still pretty young undoubtedly helps the image of their program. It's interesting to think about what current HS recruits think of Florida right now and what the average memory span is for them.
How many of them even distinctly remember the Mullen era? I guess their incredibly short memories is both a blessing and a curse for programs. The Tebow/Meyer years might as well have happened in the 1980s for a current HS recruit, although it may help a bit that Tebow is still a public figure. 1998 is even more ancient and completely irrelevant to a junior in HS.
With the Vols, Heupel has already been here long enough that HS recruits see Tennessee as HIS program. They remember 2021-2024 and probably not much before that. So to a large degree, we are free from the negative perception that haunted us from 2008-2020.
True on Napier's early recruits, but less so on current ones. Mullen was fired in Gainesville almost 4 years ago, and his Orange Bowl season was 6 years ago. So a 16-year-old high school junior in 2025 was 10 when that happened. Unless their family was into CFB and were Gators fans, it's likely they have no memory of it, especially with fewer kids actually watching TV and being traditional sports fans in a "sit down and watch games" way. And stuff that happened when you were 10 when you're 16 is already ancient history to you.Napier's early recruits would have remembered Mullen, for sure.
