i still think the point of the "violation" is not that a phone call was made, but the number of phone calls made. per that link of ncaa violations, a coach can call a recruit during his junior and senior year, while that recruit is on an official visit. the coach, however, can only call the recruit or his parents ONCE, whereas the recruit can call the coach as many times as they want.
so the uf compliance officer is correct in the fact that a coach can contact a recruit while they're on an official visit, but he never mentioned that it was legal for the coach to repeatedly call the recruit while they're on that visit. i believe that's the defining point.
