Smith said he will be visiting the Vols for the first time this weekend. The two-sport standout plans to play football and run track at Florida, and he said he's interested in seeing what Tennessee has to offer at least in part because Burns previously coached another wide receiver who also ran track in college. He said his visit with Burns on Monday "was great."
"Coach Burns has experience in managing a dual-sport athlete —
Anthony Schwartz," Smith said, referring to the former Auburn receiver who's now with the NFL's Cleveland Browns. "I believe Tennessee has an offense that’s designed for a middle to deep-threat WR."
More than 25 schools have extended offers to Smith, who's ranked the No. 220 overall prospect and No. 32 wide receiver in the 2022 class, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. He has been timed at 10.28 seconds in the 100 meters and 20.62 seconds in the 200 meters.
