'19 FL QB Brian Maurer (Tennessee signee)

I think Pruitt and staff are much more patient and calculated when it comes to recruiting than us fans.

As far as the potential for JG to transfer if he doesn’t win the starting job.... I was firmly in the “I think he transfers” camp, but for some reason I think there is a good chance he stays. Just a gut feeling, based on nothing more than the way I think this staff will coach and communicate with him. I don’t think they’re gonna make empty promises

Def no promises this time around. If he loses job, his immediate instinct will be to transfer. That would be most people's reaction. It's going to take someone to make him see that game 1 starter doesn't mean last game starter. He could always win it back. If he isn't the starter though it's not a good look for him considering the head start he had on Chryst

Like the article noted, the kid said Helton wants him despite his bad mechanics because he was still making all the throws, so imagine what he will do once a college-level QB coach straightens out his mechanics.

He can't make all the throws with a noodle arm...so somebody is full of crap.

Except Justin Worley had awesome stats in HS. He was the Gatorade player of the year. And a good coach like Cutcliff could have found some use for him.

Yeah Worley in hindsight should have transferred when Butch came in. He would have been more successful in the Chaney offense behind a better OL. I

What about the noodle arm? I mean you made the kid sound useless. What good qualities does he possess that would put him in the E11? I mean normally they don't have pure scrubs in that thing.
I didn’t say he had a noodle arm. You keep saying that lol. I said he didn’t have a good arm. Two different things.

I have no idea because I didn’t get to watch elite 11. It’s easy to throw against air with no pads on. And there are tons of examples of guys that went through the elite 11 that ended up not doing anything in college.

"Doesn't have a good arm" = noodle arm. Don't argue semantics..

Haha VN poster scout may be full of it. Dude looked pretty good in the video. :lolabove:
There were plays where the ball was behind his receiver or his receiver had to stop to make the catch. If those are making his highlights then that is a red flag. In addition, he only threw for 30 TDs in two years while throwing 23 INTs.

The article that came out on his camp performance makes it sound like Helton agrees with me. His mechanics are poor, but with good coaching they can be improved. Maybe that helps him do better. My point is that we have to take a QB this class and it looks like Maurer is our best option. I just really hope we can get Taulia otherwise the QB position is going to be really weak

Yeah..but they usually weren't scrubs in HS.

It means he has an average arm. If I meant noodle arm I would have said it

Then you should have said..He has a good arm, not a great arm...the way you said.."He doesn't have a good arm"..means exactly what you what you meant it to sound like..he has a bad (noodle) arm.

Hey I didnt like Hunter Johnson but I never said he had a bad arm. He could throw the ball, but had no fortitude in the games I watched. If you don't like this prospect, that is fine, just pick something else to criticize, or criticize better.

He can't "make all the throws" with an average arm...so somebody is still full of crap. It may not be you...but..

Because I have six know it all younger brothers...😁..look..I am not upset, I like SC..he's a good guy, I just disagree a little on his assessment of Maurer. I think saying the kid has a bad/average arm is suspect when the staff says he can make "all the throws". You can't make some of those deep outs with a crap arm. You can with a good arm.

He said Maurer doesn't have a good arm...that sounds like he is saying he has a bad one..."not good" means bad to me.

I think there is a middle ground between good and bad arm, which is probably where he was aiming with his comment.

In any case, Go Vols!

He may have been meaning that, but it sounded to me like he was saying the kid can't throw worth a isht and looks stupid doing it 😁 Go Vols!
