‘23 FL OT Francis Mauigoa (Miami commit)

Then what a player gets paid will depend on how talented they are.
And a guard will not demand as much as a Tackle highest paid LT is 23 mill, highest paid guard is 16.5, if Ruiz wants to give a guard LT money go ahead Spyre won’t do it

So just so I understand this. And let me preface this by saying I mean no disrespect here. Because some on this board say he doesn’t have the measurables to be a LT or that he isn’t a LT at the college level, that means he can’t be a LT? So you who say this know what Elarbee and the staff knows? You know for a fact that Mauigoa cannot play and excel at LT? That sounds like rock solid logic.

BOT, this is all just speculation at this point because some people have said that he projects better at gaurd. No one knows for certain until he's on campus and pads get to popping. He may not project as well as a LT, but it doesn't mean he couldn't be a 2nd team all-SEC LT. Or a 1st team all-American RT.

AP said he projects better as a guard at the next level and he’s seen the kid

He’s a mauler like Trey was, could Trey play tackle? Sure, but you line him up at Guard and he just eats people up.

If this guy is half as good as Trey, we’re getting a great player.

My only worry is Miami, they have a Polynesian coach, have been recruiting him longer, and Ruiz just throws out stupid money for some of these players.

But I still think he ends up here

No offense, but that is what I mean by speculation. If AP was that great at talent evaluation, he'd be on someone's staff instead of doing interviews and podcasts. I respect his opinion, but Francis has the measurables and athleticism to play guard or tackle at the next level. Some people (recruiting analysts) think he could be an all-American at guard and it's his quickest path to playing time. Some others think he can be the next Penei Sewell, who was a1st round pick OT. He's also 6'5" and American Samoan. It's all opinion and speculation at this point.

spyre will operate our budget like the NFL
This brings up an interesting point, I agree with you ab pay scale related to positions but am also curious if Spyre sees potential for additional marketing opportunities with a certain player if they are willing to increase their price? I’m going to ask this question next time they host a virtual Q&A. As we’ve seen from social media and various pictures, FM seems to be quite gregarious & might have a higher level of marketing potential.

Yeah to heck with NIL! How dare these kids want to make the most money! They should just inherently love Tennessee even though we’ve sucked forever!

If a kid doesn’t love Tennessee like @JacketVol loves reminding us he’s a disgruntled 5 figure donor then that kid can git!!!

Oh, I know jacket… this is the part where you tell me to go to hell. Maybe when you stop those donations like you always threaten to, you can invest in some anger management? 😉

Tennessee or Miami obviously. Miami has been offering a lot of big NIL deals recently. I'm less confident and more unsure at this point. I know some Miami people think if it's not USC then it's them. I don't think USC even with Tennessee or Miami

Hubbs
Sounds to me like Hubbs is only uncertain because Miami is involved and you just never know how the NIL back and forth can end. Nothing concrete at all saying we are slipping, just that he’s not sure how it will finish.

We have everything on our side barring a last second NIL boost and negative recruiting. The good news is we have NIL as well and Nico to calm any last minute jitters. Vol on July 4th!

OK I'm gonna ask a stupid question and I'm asking to help me understand better..... How is a guy rated as a 5* OT and not able to be a LT? Isn't LT the gold standard of OT's?

No disrespect intended at all!
Larry Allen played for the Cowboys at guard. He is considered one of the best NFL lineman of all time.

i still want him, but spyre is gonna give the most money to QB, LT, and DE
I don't think you can underestimate the importance of national perception, especially among players if we land another 5 star. Even though his position may not be one of the higher dollar ones, his rating and national exposure makes him much more attractive from an NIL perspective.
