miami and tennessee are the two schools recruiting fort lauderdale cardinal gibbons top247 defensive end khris bogle the hardest right now. At least that's what bogle said thursday night after an intrasquad scrimmage in front of coaches from clemson, florida, georgia, lsu and auburn.
Bogle, who is listed as the nation's no. 4 defensive end this cycle on the industry-generated composite, was in knoxville last month for his first official visit of the recruiting process. Things went well. "it was great because i was up there with a couple of other players. It was me, [wanya morris] and [jalen curry]. It was great getting to see them and the coaches. It was exciting. We just talked like family."
bogle was joined on the trip by mom. "she loved it because after talking with [defensive line coach chris rumph] and [jeremy pruitt] and [david kelly], she could tell its like family. Thats what shes big on and she thinks i can grow as a man there even when im far away from her." the two are planning to return ut at some point during the upcoming 2018 season. "im going to two games that i know right now because i keep talking with my mom. She wants to catch the bama and florida games."
while there's no question that the volunteers are trending up in the recruitment, the hurricanes seem to be just as much of a player at the moment. Um sent a pair of coaches to thursday night's scrimmage in jess simpson and mike rumph. Bogle was excited to see the orange and green polos on the sidelines. "it means a lot because im texting coach simpson and [defensive coordinator manny diaz] a lot actually, almost every day, so its just been great. Im actually going down there this saturday."
bogle was last seen in coral gables for a spring practice. He likes the direction the program is headed. "they have an indoor, that should be great." he's also a fan of mark richt's new contract extension which will keep him at miami through at least the 2023 season. "i know hes not going anywhere for a long time, so thats great."
as for other schools pushing the athletic edge rusher says that he's talking frequently with coaches at clemson, georgia, auburn and oregon. Florida is involved, as well. "i still talk with [defensive coordinator todd grantham], its great. Hes like one of the best coaches that coach outside linebackers and stuff. I take that into consideration and take it day by day." when it comes to a decision it appears that one won't be coming for a while. "my mom wants me to do it a little bit early, but i think im going to keep pushing it later and later towards signing day."
