Maybe the greatest moment in Vol history...i was in the north endzone...almost fainted with excitement...
Me and Daddy were there in South upper and we hugged each other. We NEVER hugged each other. That is how great that was.

We may be about the same age. But my first was 1965 - the Houston game on the Saturday after three coaches were killed when a train hit their car. I sometimes wonder had Bill Majors survived, would he have stepped in instead of Bill Battle.

Only Woodruff could answer that but hed have to leave Knox if he didn’t. He almost had to not hiring Johnny from Iowa St. but having Bill here for 4 more yrs would have made him far more experienced than Battle.

Freshman year - 1994 vs Florida. We got shutout 31-0

Ugh. I was there. Think Helton started but Peyton and Stewart got some snaps too. Mass chaos breaking in two freshmen qbs. I think the game would have been closer with Colquitt and certainly Shuler had he stayed.

Vanderbilt 2015. Being from Ga it was the first time I had seen that much orange in one place. My wife got great tickets. Also, we hung 50+ on a Vandy defense that had averaged only giving up 18 pts per game. It was a good day.

Could end up being a very special memory. Could go down as the last year we beat Vandy after many consecutive losses.

I know KY had a good offensive team that year with coach but I cant imagine we were actually underdogs.
May have been favored by 10, I remember always telling myself that we tripled the spread on that game plus three, so who knows. Either way it was a great game to go to. I remember KY attempting a fake punt inside their own 20, and with our defense, it didn’t end well. 😂

We wasted one of our best offensive lines on trying to break in two true freshman QBs that game. Had a lot of returning players on both sides but our QBs looked like deer in the headlights that game.

I remember Terry Dean throwing a pick deep in UT territory when it looked like we would score a TD on the opening drive. He settled down after that and played one of his better games on the road.

I remember the pick very well as we were sitting in seats near the end zone. Our excitement was very brief though as you mention above.
