I engaged him on Twitter a few weeks ago because Tennessee was rated more favorably in the ranking systems than Michigan, but he still had Michigan ranked two or three spots ahead of Tennessee. His response was that he "trusts some of them more than others based on experience," meaning he was giving more weight to the few projections that had Michigan ahead of Tennessee. So why does he even have a vote? If he’s just going to mimic a computer? Even KenPom himself will acknowledge that teams deserve to be ranked higher or lower compared to his rankings
So he defaults to the predictive rankings explanation whenever he's asked, but if someone uses those systems to point out that his rankings don't make complete sense according to the standards he's set, he'll go the "it's my opinion bro" route.
It's a little annoying, but I guess he's entitled to his own preferences.
