I am not sure the year, but I remember my dad and I going to the grocery store and purchasing tickets for the game. I would guess that game was in the early 70's before 1978. I remember dad telling me (later) it was an Ole Miss game. My parents passed away a long time ago so I can't ask him/them.
1968 versus Alabama. Sitting in the north endzone. Good guys won 10-9. Tennessee (maybe Jimmy Weatherford) blocked a late field goal attempt to preserve the win.
.
Definitely not my first game, but it's the first one I remember. I was 9 years old. 2004 Florida. That's was the loudest I've ever heard Neyland to this day.
11/15/1958 vs. Ole Miss in Knoxville. We won 18 -16. I was only 6 years old. Didn't understand everything, but I was sitting between my Dad and Grandpa, and it was an experience I'll never forget! Been All Vol since birth!
Oh my goodness. How could I forget 1!/15/1969 in Jackson Mississippi at the "Archie Who" game. Maybe because I choose to block it out of my memory. Four went from Memphis with tickets that were given to us.....all I could see in any direction was rebel flags.
