you know many consider Tubby to be the bball equivalent of TCHFCAUTK right?
Tubby is a dramatically better COACH than CPF, he just can't recruit with him. Tubby outlined his recruiting ideals a few years back and has stuck with them. It has hurt him, but I can respect that. The coaching itself, his teams will out D any and every team in the SEC. They might not have the ability to clamp down, but they certainly have the training and will if they're playing for him.

that's a fair point. i know just listening to KY bball fans, they sound like us talking about CPF....it's almost the exact same arguments....it's kind of weird.

That would be proof that a good number of people are exceptionally stupid. Count up SEC titles and try and say with a straight face that Fulamanure is on Smith's level as a coach. It is really difficult.

and they are KY fans....personally i never understood the argument either, against Tubby. i just thought it was surprising that you felt so highly about someone that is so commonly criticisized by it's own fan base, just like CPF...that's all....

parity in college ball is going to be a very tough pill for them to continue to swallow

I think Tubby is a great coach as well. All his teams are tough, strong, defensive teams.

That may in part explain the fanbase unhappiness with him. His offense seems to suffer, maybe because of his focus on defense and the casual fan likes to see teams go up and down and score a lot of points.

They do push it in transition though.

it has been so far...that's for sure...but the same could be said of us as well in regards to football.

we both have this "supposed to" mentality when it comes to our respective sports....

we hardly have their history of absolute domination. I can understand how they believe it's a birthright and I can certainly feel Tubby's pain.

never said we did...but it's not like we don't have tradition, or a complex about where we regard ourselves in respect to college football programs.

I know you didn't. I'm just pointing out that our getting used to it should be easier than theirs.

their hoop fans are about on par with bama football fans and each group is equally delusional

1. Tubby Smith. 2. Billy Donovan. 3. Bruce Pearl. 4. Dennis Felton. 5. Andy Kennedy. A caveat: I think Kennedy will be at the top of the list in 5 years.
Thanks. This being said, what are the key areas that Bruce Pearl must improve on to rival and/or surpass Smith and Donovan? Recruiting? More and different defensive strategies?

Adjust his game plan to the talent on hand and WIN.
