Fire Pruitt roll call

And last year's game have zero bearing on this year. Unless you think that the same roster somehow magically is playing this year, bringing up last year means absolutely nothing. Just more fodder and backpedalling because you can't make your argument that the Georgia State loss will dictate our final record while not having to wait and see how the 11 other games go.

Now you can bring up last year's record to see how we improve or digress this year, but that's it. And guess what? You can only do that when you look at the record as a whole of 12 games..... not 1 game out of 12 like you and so many others did.

I never said the bolded and the unbolded contradicts itself. Thanks for proving my point.

clean the board up and delete this stupid thread.
I agree. My bad. I just wanted to make a point and did it wrong. Point is, there is hope with CJP now. He has this team thinking they can win and improvement happening. Even I was critical to some degree, but not to the "fine him" point.

He's definetly not the dumb Bama redneck with no business being a coach as some have said. I like the effort I see.

My mistake is toying around with Battered Vol Syndrome. We aren't cured just yet. I apologize and yes, I might have been an idiot for a moment. I'll embrace the nerd reference though.

OK mods, clobber this thread...please..

Nary a fire ____ thread or scientific poll to be seen.

The poll would be much different now than in September.

I cringed at the threads that had calls for his head, and the "When will Fulmer take over". Those were dumber than this thread (by just a tad). Those guys are still around, yet much quieter. I just wanted to point out some knee jerk reactions in September, that's all... and by the way.... there were days when I thought UTC would be our only win, so I haven't been all in either.

To those who said "I agree it's going to take a couple of years to rebuild" or those who said "The jury is still out", some wisdom shown here. Instant gratification isn't going to happen. I'm beginning to trust that its a long process.

Common sense tells you that even Butch Jones showed us hope along the way. Yep, he fooled us. He needed to be fired and I held out hope until it became obvious. So I understand that translated to Pruitt after GS.

Pruitt seems different though at this point. The team seems different too. Teams quit last year, and the year before. Not sure why, but this was the cancer. I'm not seeing that now. And I questioned CJP's passion for Tennessee. Last season, he seemed a little robotic on the sideline. Now, he seems to have embraced it. I think he hates losing and hates loafers. He's promoting the guys that hustle and work, and it finally seems the team has buy in and realize it's more fun in a winning locker room after a big game.

His coaching pedigree shows he knows more about football than Dooley and Butch combined. He still has a long way to go, but I trust Fulmer's judgement way more than Curry's. Another point in this thread is the illusion that spending $$$$$ for a coach isn't the answer. I think somewhere down the road, the $75,000,000 Jimbo was guaranteed at FSU will give them buyers remorse. UCLA with Chip Kelly isn't working so good either, and people here were wanting those guys. Some still lamenting what Leach could do here. (I think the SEC would eat him alive.. but that's another story).

Just no more fire Pruitt for a while, OK. We may have stumbled into something really good and just now waking up to that fact. If we make a bowl, that'll be a pretty good litmus test for where we are. That and what the recruiting haul is like in two months. Those are two big fish he needs to land.

Yep delete this thread.

I am very happy, and encouraged, by what I saw on Saturday.
But, I need to see the same fire, for 60 minutes, every week. We are still 3-5. But are we a 3-5 team? Or a team that just happens to be 3-5?

His sticking with JG is making me reconsider that he will get the job done. Shrout and Maurer are leaps and bounds better, and I don’t have any doubt the 4 and 5 options would at least make better decisions.

Remember that great win over Iowa in the gator bowl? We thought Jones had turned a corner, how did that turn out?

Listen, yesterday was a great win and this team seems to be improving on a weekly basis. But we thought that last year as well and then we tripped down the stretch and missed a bowl. I'm not advocating to fire Pruitt this week but I'm also not lobbying for him to get a raise and extension.
Failed comparisons. Butch never produced these outcomes playing 21 true freshman!!!

We got beat by Georgia State.
Should we fire Pruitt? Will Fulmer take over until we open our wallets and find a “real” coach, someone really pricey, like what TEXAS A&M did?

Speak now. Show your work.
I see improvement however I'm not ready to say he's the guy yet

Why not just say some of you will be negative no matter what happens? LMAO
Hooked on phonics..check into it.
You acting like Pruitt just beat LSU or something 😂.
Again, good win but one good win doesn't necessarily mean Pruitt is the next St. Nick.
How about we at least let the season play out before crowning him coach of the year, ok?
Nobody is saying he can't possibly end up being a solid head coach, but what many rational people I see in here saying is let's take a wait and see approach. Pretty reasonable, no?
Nevermind......your goal is obviously not reason. Troll on....But your in a no win situation in regards because die hard fans like me WANT to see him and this program succeed, but if he doesn't and implodes at the end of this season ( and as i said early I pray the opposite) you will have to close your account down via embarrassment of the year.
I know one thing, if he losses to VANDY this year i am going to find you 😛

Two wins against two teams with losing records def hasn't won me over or has me believing yet. Regardless if we lose out, he'll be here next year. I'm just taking it one week at a time.

We sure did think that. Then he decided to run off Hurd and a player mysteriously fell on a helmet and he told the fans to F off during a game.

In case anyone hasn’t checked. Georgia State is 6-2 right now and already bowl eligible. Granted, Tennessee should never lose to a team at that level, but they aren’t bad this year for a mid major.

JG had a whale of a game. No way he doesn’t grad transfer after this season, but his end story showcases a HC who doesn’t quit on his team...or players. No matter how egregious a mistake they make in the previous game. I was all for catapulting him back to New Jersey...that’s why I comment on a message board and this guy coaches. Think athletes might want to play for him?

Nothing he's done has made up for Georgia State. Nothing. He was always gonna get his contract years. That was never in doubt with this administration.

But to act like last night made up for Georgia State is just dumb.

Needs to do something biblical, like offering up a hand or an eye. Or both.
We could have a real pirate coach replete with hook and patch, and never have to hear the word "Leach" again.

I was gearing up for a coaching search myself after the GS loss. Then, after watching the team improve and play hard against BYU, and lose solely on shoulders of QB play, I realized that was our biggest problem. JG, for whatever reason could not hit open receivers, held the ball too long, etc.
It carried over through the UF game, and then we start a freshman against UGA. A spark was provided and we looked like a decent team for a half. Then we grind one out against MSU and play Bama as hard and aggressively as I've seen in a while. We started turning the corner against MSU, and then we finally got around it in the second half beat down of USCe.

This staff just needs time. I've seen enough in games against AU and UK last year, and now in wins against MSU and USCe, loss to bama and first half UGA to know this staff can get us back. We simply need more players. More depth. I think he has a good coaching staff around him.

One of the best things I've seen from Pruitt, a young and inexperienced head coach, is that he doesn't throw his players under the bus. He had every right to be angry at JG last week for what he did. But when questioned, he didn't blow him up to the media. Players see that and it has an affect on them. JG could have completely tuned out after that, but what does he do, he comes right back and has a phenomenal game this week. His players play for him, and it's really showed the last few games.

He may not win us a championship, but his teams are going to play hard, impose their physical will on people and make them earn it. If he can continue the upward swing though, recruiting will only get better, and so will the W-L column. Just my 0.02, FWIW

CJP just completed his 20th game of a contracted 72 games (not including any bowls). This is just over a quarter of the games in his contract. He sits at 8-12 now and it looks like he has the team playing the way they should from what I witnessed in Neyland Saturday evening. And he is the first Tennessee HC to beat Muschump as a head coach. Anyone that is pushing for CJP's termination right now has a few missing bricks and really missed jumping on the turnip truck as it went by if they think Fulmer will take over and do better. The day Fulmer takes over this program again as a HC is the day I burn everything I have in orange and I would start pulling for another team. I'm freaking 62 years old and seen a lot of struggling seasons....And I see the turn around in this season already by the way the team is playing together and to win. I loved Fulmer in his prime but not in the later years when the game passed him by and when he had no control of the team. IF anyone thinks we will have instant championships like instant oatmeal, then do a history check of the wins and losses over the years of your life. And.....Just how many times did Fulmer lose to Florida, get upset at the Peach Bowl by Clemson and Maryland., lose to Nebraska with Peyton Manning, lose to Memphis State, lose to Wyoming, UCLA.....And simply losing the big games that slipped away by "pounding the rock" in predictive offenses and never adapting to the game in the second half. You do realize that CJP has the possibility of going 7-5 this year after a terrible start? IF you had been sitting and watching the game in the stadium like I was Saturday night....You would realize just how crazy your question is here. Really, there's no point in beating this one around other than it distracts and undermines anything positive going on with the team and fans right now. Just chill out and enjoy the ride....You might actually be surprised if you give it a chance.
