We know he is not a good offensive coordinator and based upon Bray's development we know he is not a good QB coach. Is Bray better than when he got here ? Who has he beat ?

Probably not the right thread for this but...I've never understood the Chaney/Dooley relationship. Dooley says he wants a pro-style offense, that he wants to be balanced and be a power running team. Nothing in Chaney's history is even remotely what Dooley wants with the lone exception of Chaney's first year under Kiffin. Kiffin ran his offense and called the plays, so throw that out the window.

Then there's the Chaney/Brees/Bray relationship. When Brees was at Purdue they ran a one back or a no back spread offense predicated on short, quick release passing. Our offense seems much more verticle and Bray's not particularly quick getting the ball out on short hitches and the like.

The whole thing seems like a bad marriage and I've thought that from the very beginning, not that it matters what I think. It's just strange. You have three guys that all want to skin the cat a different way.

We could save buckets of money by hooking up a PS3 in the booth and "ask Corso" for every play.

My question, what is the big damn deal about 5 and 4 star running backs if Chaney is calling 7 runs per game?

Lets just throw it deep almost every play and call a pass play whenever it's 4 & 1...oh wait, we already do.

If CJC is let go, Phillip Fulmer was a pretty good OC back in the day... I know that is not an option, but the offense was imaginative and fun to watch.

This thread was started at least two seasons ago - most you have been defending him up until now.

It is an indictment on the fanbase that it has taken you all this long to realize how pathetic a play caller he is.

um....

fire the doolster and the rest will follow...

I know that's fun to talk about, but with his buyout, and the state of our athletic dept right now, that would be a foolish move financially. The best bet would be to replace Chaney, and then Dooley's buyout will go waaaay down for next season. Then we could afford to really offer a boat-load of dough to a worthy candidate.

Chaney had a contract, and was here with Kiffin. Kiffin didn't even allow this moron to call his own plays. Don't see how Chaney is dooley's fault.

Not winning will cost UTAD a helluva lot more than the buyout.

Contracts didn't seem to matter much this past season when nearly the whole staff was either forced out or left for lesser jobs. He kept Chaney because he didn't want the offense to start over, that's the only thing that makes sense to me. CDD and Chaney don't share the same philosophy, so it's not that. In the post game interview Dooley said you can't throw the ball 44 times against a good team. My question is what is Dooley thinking? Chaney had Bray throw it 48 times in the game last year.

The guy has no clue as to how to run an offense in the SEC. This isnt purdue, you cant pass the ball every down. HAVE TO RUN THE BALL. The guy panicked and abandoned the run when we still had a whole quarter of football to play. Still cant figure out why

I'll be honest, I don't know who our most expensive coordinator is, but I have to imagine Chaney is top 2. We have finally relieved ourselves of paying coaches for doing nothing, I can't imagine that's what the athletic department saw fit with all of the cuts, and the 4m dollar loss it saw. Chaney is here because it's too financially inefficient to pay him not to be here. NOT DOOLEY'S FAULT.

See VHB, we can't blame Dooley.

Buy out would have been peanuts and he probably would have another job fairly quickly depending on the timing. Dooley wanted to keep him, it was his decision.

Yep, if he hadn't knocked the ball out of CP's one hand, distracted JH to drop the pass for a first down on 3d and 10, forced TB to interntionally ground the ball... we might have won.

Fla executed, we didn't.

Well he didnt whiff and miss the ball on the fumble either. Although you have to admit we have had 0 run game the past 3 years now. I think we might could have ran the ball better the other night but he panicked when we got down by 7.
