Fire Dave Hart

Well, the bball team that finished 10th was picked to finish 14th, so we exceeded expectations.

The sports you refer to as "who cares" are actually doing pretty well. Have you seen how our golf and tennis teams have done recently?

Baseball is having an unexpectedly poor year. However, softball is still ranked in the top 20.

I'm not here to defend Dave Hart, but many folks get on here with all emotion and no facts or context, such as your remark about bball finishing 10th in SEC. Everyone knows they finished better than expected but you try to twist it into a negative.

Hart has two major issues to deal with: the Tyndall hiring/firing, and the dissolution of the Lady Vols logo. Obviously, the Tyndall situation has to be dealt with immediately. And, rightly so, Hart will be scrutinized over who he hires to replace Tyndall. Unfortunately, the Lady Vols saga will continue to play out over several more months.

The dissolution of the LadyVol logo was self inflicted.

Mucking up the second most revenue sport at UT is not something to be taken lightly. And for what it's worth, Dave Hart's budgetary restraints are more on Jimmy Cheek than on him.

Hart has done some good things but the Tyndall hire has had me scratching my head from the get go. First he eschews using a search firm then hires a coach that has a stench surrounding him from SM. Now I am not calling for Hart's head but damn that is some very bad vetting.

Let the name calling begin, even by the mods, more merging less name calling.

There's been no name calling. But sometimes something is so devoid of rational thought that you have to just point it out.

The notion that he's sabotaging the program because he went to school at Alabama is one of the 5 most retarded things that gets posted here.

I would be interested to see what you think the other 4 are to see if we agree.

"negative posts hurt recruiting" or anything related to Gruden has to be up there.

Both of you are dead wrong.

The Bama angle is just fun. The problem is Dave Hart is a bad AD. His Bama connection just makes it a little more fun to state the obvious.

Everyone is suffering from "He's not Mike Hamilton" syndrome. If this were the SATs the analogy would be 8th layer of Hell : 9th layer of Hell, Dave Hart : Hambone Hamilton.

The only thing Dave Hart can do today to merit his continued employment is to hire Bruce Pearl.

He should then be fired immediately after the hire for being a year late and $5M short.

You may be right. But, I have to say the idiocy meter get maxed out on a regular basis.

I have learned in life that when someone resorts to name calling, that they have no real substance at that point. Just opinions which are like :eek:hmy:

Your post is not only erroneous, but illogical.

First, there is no hard and fast rule for CEOs to get fired for hiring the "wrong folks". You obviously have no connection or history to anything executive.

Second, your assessment is illogical. On one hand you say "DH ruined the program" ... then immediately demand him be fired. If the BB program is ruined, then you might as well keep Hart. What is RUINED cannot be restored so firing Hart will do nothing to change that.

Hand wring much?

It's hilarious that you actually believe that

I wonder if people in the know actually read the delusional meanderings on VN? If I were Martin or Hart or Jones etc, I would probably be afraid to leave the gated community. People can get some seriously psychotic thought processes going!

I can see your point, in hindsight. But exactly what kind of vetting process would you use to unearth these allegations that did not become publicly know until after CDT was in place?

You can only "search through so much hay in order to discover the needle" it seems to me. Just wondering what "process" would need to change to uncover a "future" violation that comes from a candidates "past".

Dave Hart hired Butch and switched us to Nike. Also he almost got rid of that dumb Lady Vols logo that unnecessarily separates Men and Women's sports of the same school. Bring back Bruce and he'll be even more of a winner in my book.

Majority of students are super pissed and are actively fighting Cheek and Hart over Lady Vols debacle. Should have never changed them.

Hart must go, who wants to come to Tennessee and work for an incompetent AD who will likely be fired or leave in the next couple of years. For the big dollars these folks are paid, accountability goes with the territory.

I spoke with a prominent booster (has a facility named after them) about a week ago, and to say they were disgusted with Hart would be an understatement.

I think the anger here is justified. In addition, when you've been kicked in the groin as much as the Tennessee fan base has.....irrational anger, if it exists, is completely understandable.

The self inflicted damage to the football, men's basketball, and baseball programs is really breathtaking.

Fired the best coach in over 60 years in both football and baseball. Ran off a coach that took you to the Sweet Sixteen in men's basketball.

Men's basketball is about to take the path of football (which is finally recovering) and baseball (still in the toilet).

The petition got Martin motivated to coach, got him to the sweet 16(which he'll never do again) and raise. he didn't take the raise and left. Don't rewrite history.

Completely false. Cuonzo was always coaching just fine - it just so happens that teams usually don't peak throughout the whole year (maybe with exception of UK this year). If you are a sports fan (any sport) you should understand that basic concept. But the important thing was that Cuonzo's team did peak at the right time. And another important and unfortunate fact is that he realized he does not have to coach where he is not appreciated.
Don't rewrite history.

Don't rewrite history.

I didn't sign the petition and I think it was stupid, but you're the one rewriting history.

The players and Cuonzo said they used the petition as motivation. That team was full of talent and for the third year in a row they needed a giant run at the end of the season to even be considered for the NCAA tournament.

Cuonzo used an "us vs them" style in his coaching, which I find to be unacceptable.

Regardless of the petition, fans had every right to be upset with the play of the basketball team at the time of the petition. Cuonzo tended to deflect blame and act like everything was hunky dory, which furthered the disconnect with the fans. He then pointed that disconnect out to his players and used it in his coaching. Awful.
