Anyone calling for Dave Hart to be fired has no understanding of the business he is in. And, yes, it is a business. I'm not a fan or detractor of the man, I'm a fan of UT athletics and can see the huge job he's had to turn this program around after years of Mike Hamilton's incompetence.

Obviously, he hired a good coach in Tyndall, but also, obviously, someone, somewhere, didn't vet him as extensively as they said. Hart needs to deal with the vetting process used on Tyndall and make sure it's more extensive next time.

Love how Hart gets credit by some on here for hiring Butch when he tried to hire Strong and Gundy first while embarrassing his employer in the national media - just like he has again. He made a panic hire with Butch and got lucky. No way should the LV's brand have been changed. LV is known even internationally. Why undermine a brand that took decades to create when you make more financially and with publicity off the success it generates than you would ever get from Nike? Stupid beyond words. As are the BOT, Cheek and DiPietro for approving it. Bama Dave keeps doing his job well for Bamanation.

Hart is incompetent and should be fired. Can we please hire an AD with some TN ties? Last I heard Phil Fulmer was available and would do a great job as would Charles Davis. Hart is a Bozo!

I, as well as many other fans and alumni, am thoroughly unimpressed with the current administration (academic and athletic). I'm not so unsure it's time to clean house.

Turn this program around? Last I checked our basketball team finished 10th, our baseball team currently has the worst record in the SEC and our " who cares" sports such as track, tennis and golf are nothing to brag about. Football is improving and is the ONLY sport that we can somewhat feel good about. Most Administrators that have these results would not be around very long.

I don't believe for one second that Hart is intentionally sabotaging the program because he's from Alabama or any other such nonsense.

But the fact that we've been so embroiled in NCAA issues and we've just fired a coach after less than a year on the job for, you guessed it, NCAA issues, are not doing anything to strengthen my faith in our administration.

Dumb fan base paying price for their moronic petition. Unfortunately the effect will probably be similar to when CPF was fired - most likely UT basketball will be down for a long time, just like football has been.

Yes, yes, yes.... a thousand times over yes: FIRE Dave Hart. How clear does the need have to be? What does Dave Hart have to do to be fired? Does Congress have to vote unanimously? I'm not sure this guy would get fired even if it came out he talked the Germanwings co-pilot into crashing the plane.

Regardless of where he came from, spending three hours to vet a basketball hire is indefensible.

Not that people won't try.

I so much agree with this!!!!

The incompetence we keep seeing needs to be tied to those in charge and I say it's time to wipe the slate clean over there from the top down. Who knows, Hart may be hamstrung by incompetent bosses, so we need to hold Jimmy Cheek and Joe Dipeitrio responsible for the embarrassment that is UT athletics. Next should come Hart.

Well, the bball team that finished 10th was picked to finish 14th, so we exceeded expectations.

The sports you refer to as "who cares" are actually doing pretty well. Have you seen how our golf and tennis teams have done recently?

Baseball is having an unexpectedly poor year. However, softball is still ranked in the top 20.

I'm not here to defend Dave Hart, but many folks get on here with all emotion and no facts or context, such as your remark about bball finishing 10th in SEC. Everyone knows they finished better than expected but you try to twist it into a negative.

Hart has two major issues to deal with: the Tyndall hiring/firing, and the dissolution of the Lady Vols logo. Obviously, the Tyndall situation has to be dealt with immediately. And, rightly so, Hart will be scrutinized over who he hires to replace Tyndall. Unfortunately, the Lady Vols saga will continue to play out over several more months.

The petition got Martin motivated to coach, got him to the sweet 16(which he'll never do again) and raise. he didn't take the raise and left. Don't rewrite history.
