Anyone catch his show this evening? I had the SEC channel on and walked in while he was interviewing Mike Griffith from SECCountry.com. Paul obviously hates IT haha. He really gave Griffith a hard time. BTW Griffith even picked Florida to win this weekend. Basically Mike thought UT's schedule, (3 games in 13 days and wasting a lot of time preparing for GT in the offseason), pending bad weather for the game, and the fact Florida hasn't started 0-2 since the early 70's was the factors that led him to picking Florida. Paul gave him a hard time saying UT fans and staff always make excuses. Led Griffith to fight bavk by saying IT fan base and program doesn't need to make excuses because we are 17-4 in our last 21 games. Paul got a bunch of traction out of that by saying you can't mention the UT program w/o someone bringing up that stat.

It just fired me up! Just wondered if anyone else saw it and what their thoughts were?

Hard to disagree with them since we haven't won in the swamp since 03. Plus our coach is Butch Jones and hes already making excuses for why we may lose Saturday saying we've got 27 players who have played in the swamp before like that means anything

I saw it. Finebaum acting like a complete a**. But he's a Bama fan so that's expected. I think he was still fired up about the War Daddy call right before it.

I usually have it one when I am doing stuff around the house. But I agree with you. 90% of the show is homers calling in saying other regular calls are homers.

I've only been a Vols fan for about 10 years so I have no where near the knowledge most of you have. Can someone please educate me why he hates UT so much?

Honestly, a lot of UT fans and staff DO always make excuses. Let's be real here. I mean our head coach starts excuses before the game is even played.

I missed that one. I will have to rewind and watch it.

I agree with Mike Griffith though, however I disagree with his pick. I honestly think we will win. I felt Griffith was making points, not excuses. Just my opinion.

If Mike Griffith picked us to lose then we got this one because Griffith is rarely correct with win loss predictions.

A can't stand Finebaum at all, but he's right here. Our coach's middle name is excuse. Mike Griffith is trash as well, his writing only outputs positivity and he completely ignores reality.

What is this silly excuse of scheduling 3 games in 13 days I keep seeing? Actually it is 3 games in 12 days (Sept. 16 - Sept. 4 = 12 days, not 13) Normal Saturday games are 3 games in 14 days and there are a lot of Thursday night games with 3 games in 12 days. We had a Labor Day time slot on national TV and we won. Jeez what a whiny bunch of fans we have.

Lots of the callers I hear on his show are Bama & Auburn fans so the anti UT vibe fits his narrative. If UT was winning big again PF would love us.

I click through occasional and saw the show you are referring to. I've never understood Finbaum's attraction. The shows format is bad. He is not a good sports analyst. He is just goofy. What's his background and what credentials does he have? How did he get that show?

Did you hear him blast wardaddy zach right before talkjng to griffith, paul was able go make it almost a full hour of straight Tennessee bashing.

I thought griffith did well, very quick, knowledgeable and prepared, and paul mocked and ripped apart everything griffith said.

Oh well, todays news, water still wet, finebaum still hates Tennessee irrationally.

I saw it and MG was a complete rube. Just a mouthpiece. I reacted the exact same way PF did.

MG did nothing to help promote the Tennessee program. He basically took the poor old Tennessee approach...3 games in 13 days.... Dave hart should've never scheduled that GT game... Tennessee shouldn't even play these marquis ooc games, they have to play Alabama... And lsu....poor Tennessee.... They're gonna lose Saturday because of all this...

Pure and absolute garbage.

Finebaum is a businessman...he used to do serious journalism (and still does occasionally) but there is far more money in stirring the pot...even though he is national now, his primary audience is still Alabama and Auburn fans and then the other SEC teams...he will take shots at anyone but usually does so to play to his base...driving back from the beach yesterday I had his show on and he trashed a ND fan...my wife thought he was extremely rude but I told her, he's just playing to his base because they all hate ND...

But do understand that his take on Tennessee is that it's a program that hasn't been relevant in over a decade and a program whose fans think is better than they really are...I think his assessment is that we have crawled out of the cellar and are now a completely average team...middle of the pack SEC east - an extremely weak division...

Maybe this year we can win a game against an SEC West opponent...respect from guys like Finbaum will come after we win some big games...

He isnt an Alabama fan. He will say whatever will get people worked up to call his show.

For one thing he is 61 years old, so he has seen a lot of sports.

What's the point? Griffith was already making excuses before the game was even played, he asked for being called out. Can he say with a straight face on Monday that the reason TN lost was because they played 3 games in 13 days instead of 15? That is REALLY reaching down the excuse barrel or the fact they played GT as a reason they lose to Fla? That is scraping the bottom of the barrel for excuses.

Griffith said Tn spent 20% of their time preparing to defend the GT offense. Well. That was time well spent.

I guess I have more faith in Tn that Mike, I think Tn wins and it isn't close. Maybe Mike can show Fla fan writers how to write excuses as I'm sure we will hear how them not playing last week and getting live reps hurt Fla's chances.
