Finebaum hates us..

What they need to be discussing on this show is how Finebaum can stay on the air with that face. The guy is a string bean, hair a joke, terrible dresser and hit every limb in the ugly tree. Its amazing to me how he can continue to be shown in households across the country. Does anyone know how he does it? Relatives own stock in the network or something?
Yes. He started on radio. He stirred up the Bama low-lifes (guys like Harvey Updyke) when they were down, blaming Fulmer and UT (when the Vols were perennially in the top 5) for their demise, and built a large following in Alabama. Since most of the vitriol was directed at Tennessee, a lot of other SEC fans were drawn to the show. Many listened to be entertained by the angry callers who regularly spewed garbage on his call-in segment. It was one of the few college football talk shows on radio at the time, so it grew in popularity in the south. His schtick was, and probably still is, to stir the pot regardless of facts.

He lives here in Alabama where he caters to the bamers to make his money. He plays them for the dough.
Not a fan of shock jocks, but
Does he not live in Carolina now?
No sportscaster gives Alabama the business after a loss more than he does, smiles while doing it.
Saban hates him. He does not think he is getting the worship he deserves from Finebaum.
Recently said he is a proud graduate, that his blood is orange and will always be a Tennessean as he was born here.
ESPN dresses all their announcers. It's television.
He is Jewish, making fun of his looks is racist. Everyone his age is ugly.
Speaking what he believes is truth does not mean he hates Tennessee.

Tennessee's schedule isnt that bad. Its a great mix of easy games followed by harder ones. We get Bama and Florida and A&M (3 of the 5 hardest games) at home. No team that we play gets a bye week before they play us. Bama has to play Georgia the week before they come to Knoxville. Outside of the Georgia game I think we have a pretty playable road schedule. I see Tennessee losing to Georgia as the only highly probably loss. All other games are fair to expect good competition and wins. I'm not saying they go 9-1, but the schedule aint that bad at all. This is just the kind of f'ed up year that Tennessee can beat both teams from Alabama in the same year or beat Bama and Florida in the same year.

Watching finebaum today a caller asked him how he think Tennessee will fair this year... he said basically we got shafted with the new schedule and called the auburn and a&m games .500 games ... jus seeing what all of you think..
I 100% agree with him. Those games are tough and for us and to go .500 in them would be a success.

As long as #2 is our starting QB, our overall ceiling is mediocrity. And with the schedule this year, that means either 4-6 or 5-5. South Carolina can beat a JG led team. So can Mizzou. So can Kentucky. The only locks are Arky and Vandy.

It isn’t what it is, and with the NCAA rule change, absent the jaws of life being applied, JG is our starter next year as well.

He's probably right. Hate to admit it.

Auburn, on The Plains? Less than 50/50. More like 25/75. A&M, at home, 40/60. A&M is going to be tough. 4-6 or 5-5, would be a minor success.

At best 10-0, at worst 0-1 (cancel season after one game )

I'm not following the outrage here.

When the schedule came out many on here were saying UT got screwed with aTm and AU. I would think most would accept going 1-1 in those 2 games. Finebaum calling them .500 games is basically saying the same thing.
Exactly. We play 5 of the top 13 teams in the AP preseason poll and 4 teams aren’t even playing in the top 13. So we play more than half of the top 9. That’s no joke. There are some good football teams on our schedule, but i think the placement of those games makes it more manageable. We can definitely go .500 against aTm and Auburn.
Despite what some others on here think I don’t think the UGA game could come at better time. We get them early, they are breaking in a new QB and offense and we are sandwiched between Auburn and Bama. UGA is gonna be good, but I wouldn’t be shocked if we went down there and pulled out a W.

You are correct, IMO. The placement of the games is about as good as one could hope for.

Paul attended UT during the '70s. Likely, he wasn't popular. He lacks the fond memories the rest of us have.

I've never heard him once not talk fondly of his time in Knoxville. His sports editor days were pretty good back then on campus.

Both of those games we should have the best defense on the field and Auburn is likely to stink this year stopping the run. We'll make those teams one dimensional and will have a good shot to win both.

You just named 3 teams who can beat the Vols with JG at the helm yet ironically we beat all 3 of them with JG playing a major role with 2 of those games being SEC road games. LOL Great argument here boys and girls.

OP: "Finebaum hates us ..."

In other headlines:
"Water Found to be Wet"
"Catfish Caught in Mississippi River"
"Traffic Jam in Los Angeles"

Finebaum has been doing the same schtick since his stint as sports editor of the Daily Beacon in the late '70s. Still uses the same lines, the same opinions and has parleyed that into a well-paying career feeding the Bammer sheep and keeping ours stirred up.

I got tired of him in 1978.

UGA is going to have a very good defense but they will struggle mightily on offense this year, book it.

Whats the demographic that wants to look at an old, thin, balding white man with a pencil neck, 30 year old suit, thin tie and tie clasp that has a generally bad attitude? Must be Bama fans.
To me, he looks like a Muppet character
