I’ve only cried at one sporting event in my life and it was whenever Zakai was going through the Senior Day line. That should sum up the struggle he and his family have been through and what he means to Tennessee. Congrats to one of the greatest to ever play basketball at Tennessee, but most importantly, congrats to one of the most genuine people to come through Tennessee. We don’t love you for all the accolades, being 1st-team defense, career leader in assists and steals, the SEC Championships, the first to go to back to back Elite 8’s, etc. We love you because of how well you have represented Tennessee as a role model to all, we love you because you are routinely the shortest person on the court but somehow find a way to not only compete but in most instances impact entire games. We love you because you overcome adversity on and off the court. We love you because you play the game the way all fans expect their team to play. We love you because nobody can ever say you cheated the game. You never backed down to any challenge and I don’t throw this word around for many athletes, but you truly are a warrior. You don’t have “That Dog” in you, you have “That Vol” in you. I know you are a native New Yorker, but Rocky Top will always be your Home Sweet Home.
