Tell me you don’t know have any social skills without saying you don’t have any social skills. We are remembering JM as a person just as much as the player he was. BTW, he did just fine on offense as he was able to drive to the net and get much needed points when we desperately needed them many times. He also hit a lot of timely 3s.
He averages 6 pts a game this year and 4 pts a game the previous 2 seasons, I used my social skills and checked it out.

a player like Mashack brings value in terms of ‘net points’ - points prevented plus points scored. If he prevents 10-15 points per game, you could add that to his offensive points scored so 6 ppg scored vs 10-15 prevented = 16-21 point differential per game. Would be the same value as someone who scores 10-15 ppg but only prevents 5 per game.

A smart NBA GM will grab Mashack in the 2nd round of draft. His defense is so good and he’s even a better teammate. If you want to help change the culture of your team there’s no one better to have than Mashack. His defense and work ethic will always be his biggest strength, but as a pro he will be able to focus exclusively on basketball and his 3 pt shooting will soon become a strength too.

Completely agree but they will just figure they can get him without drafting him. I would pick him up for impact on team culture alone and you might end up with a guy that can give you 6-10 points a game and lock down defensive minutes. Jahmai's lack of scoring at UT was more a testament to his unselfish mentality than lack of ability. It can be argued that he was too unselfish because his percentages were solid when he attacked.

JM seems like he will always lean toward being unselfish but given a specific role in the NBA, I think he would pour every ounce of energy into it and I wouldn't bet against him. Coaching seems very likely in his future as well....just seems like an eventual natural fit.

He may play in the NBA one day after impressing somewhere else. Never say never. But, I would be shocked if he's drafted. This is an offense first league.

Shack would've been great in the 90s NBA 😆

On how many shots? That 6 isn’t blowing your doors off, but the efficiency is solid.

Best FG% among our guards and 2nd best 3P% after Lanier. You could argue that the %s would probably go down with more volume, they usually do, but I think there’s plenty of meat left on that bone. Mashack’s biggest offensive limitation is just not shooting enough. He took about 1 more shot per game this year than last year and scored an extra 1.5 points.

A true VFL who gave his all for Tennessee every time he went on the floor. However, I still wonder how good the Vols could have been if they had signed Shadrach and Abednego when they signed Mashack
