Ferguson Riots

Two questions you have to all yourself: 1) is he still advancing, and 2) do I still have round in the mag?

Agreed. I've never had to draw a weapon on anyone. But, I would think if I had to I would shoot until the threat hit the ground.

Heard one of the family members on radio this morning. Was asked, what does the family think happen. Answer (I am doing my best to recreate from memory):

"At the very end, regardless of what happened up to that point, Michael was shot in an execution. There are apparently different versions of what happened leading up to the very end, but at the very end, it was murder."

G$#!damnit !! this is the kind of crap that just irritates me so much. A week ago Michael was grabbed by the officer, then was running for his life and shot from behind. He was a gentle giant.

Now, we KNOW he had just stolen from a neighborhood store, we KNOW he and his friend were blocking traffic, we KNOW the friend was there at the store, and we KNOW he was not shot from behind. And now, apparently, it is likely going to come out that Brown shoved the officer or the door of the car hitting the officer, that Brown proceeded to pummel the cop and severely injure him. And, we are apparently going to find out that Brown did in fact grab for the officer's gun, and that there are many witnesses who says Brown taunted the cop, then came at him, causing the officer to fire.

And so as time wears on the family and the supporters want to focus on the last 1/10th of a second, and say that was excessive. Come on. Its all one story, it needs to come out and be judged in light of the entirety of the event, not cherry picked segments.

It's a good story. But I'd also like to take it a couple of steps further.

1. Have the police send in the looters they captured (if there are any) to do that cleanup and help fix the store. let them look the business owners and workers in the eyes while they sweep up.

2. Coordinate with the leaders of the protests and have them police their own. I'm not saying they are complicit, but the residents know far better who's supposed to be there and who's not. If they start locking these fools up and policing their own, it goes a long way in the great scheme of things.

3. Recruit actual Ferguson residents into the Ferguson Police Department.

LG... Thank you. I know we bust your balls a lot but your objectivity in this matter has been wonderful.

You forgot that the primary witness' integrity has come under fire with his warrant for theft and his history of Lying to authorities.

Every piece of evidence so far points to Wilson being correct, but we live in a world where everyone expects to be coddled and no one takes personal responsibility for their actions. The family is never gonna admit he dun fked up because people have been conditioned to place blame everywhere else but #1.

The "other shoe" is simply that we do not know all the facts. And what we do know comes from media reports, which have so far sucked moose d+ck in this case.

We know enough to establish the cop isn't a cold blooded murderer, unlike the local lynch mob who had their minds made up from day one.

What irks me about this whole situation is the labeling of the rioting and looting horde as "protesters". These people aren't protesting sheet. They couldn't care less about the cop or the kid. It's just an excuse to run wild and get free stuff.

Rant over. You guys with more political knowledge go back to debating and I'll go back to lurking.

Just like the Brown supporters should not assume that all white police officers are racially biased against them, neither should supporters of the police assume that all of the people showing up in the aftermath are rioters, versus peaceful protestors.

From the raw coverage I have seen, there seem to be many people out there who are just walking with signs, or hands up and chanting. They are not taunting the police or throwing things at them. And then there are some who don't utter a word about the Brown incident, but then antagonize the police.

As soon as the rioters start up, shockingly, that is where the cameras turn.
