Ferguson Riots

I wonder why no water cannons yet? I've seen every other non-lethal form of weaponry except that one.

Large and cumbersome. It's also dependent on a tanker truck of limited supply or a hydrant that can be overrun by a large crowd relatively easily. And the historical memories of civil rights marches getting blasted by water cannons is not something a lot of police want to invoke.

They aren't used that often any more.

On the FX news feed, she was standing on the curb yelling across the street towards LEO. I didn't hear anything threatening from her other than the usual taunts from those protesting but regardless, they singled her out.

Got a link? The other one is crappy right now.

Yeah, the imagry it evokes is enough to think twice before using that tactic.

In the back of mind the '60s images were probably the reason but I didn't think about them being easily overrun. Also on the scanner someone shot up a police car with paintballs and cop floored it out of there.

They are actually pretty effective at tearing down makeshift barricades. But crowds themselves are more easily dispersed by gas or an LRAD.

You can't throw stuff at the cops, then raise your hands, then throw stuff, then raise your hands ... and pretend that means it's the cops' fault for reacting.
