Ferguson Riots

But all I'm interested in is the truth, so I appreciate it. I think that info helps me understand the situation better, but it is a little different. I think in the hypothetical we said he was nearly twice the distance, and unarmed. Yeah he's a big man, but that just means he moves slower and from that distance 6 shots might seem a little excessive.

We are also assuming he only took 6 shots, right? We know how many times he he hit him. Do we know how many shots he actually took?

Those details haven't been released yet (I think) so it's a wait and see. However, I'd expect the facts to be ignored in this case. Six shots might not be excessive depending on if the threat has stopped or not.

But like I said, 21 feet is the general rule. And there are other conditional factors here that can/will get ignored. Holster type for example. A Level 3 retention holster makes it harder to remove a weapon while something like a Serpa or a Safariland makes it easier to draw and fire. So drawing, aiming and firing isn't as easy as it sounds or TV makes it look especially under pressure. I've seen guys jam up their holsters on the training range because of a Level 3 retention and that's in practice. Introduce a live suspect coming towards you, adrenaline pumping, nerves and as 7th pointed out, ****ting out the turd pearl and you end up with a recipe that can lead to a dead cop and his weapon in the hands of a thug.

It's a LRAD and it's not a tank again.

Yeah, a term that was used the other day was an MRAP(Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle.

This has ballooned so much more than it was the past few days. There are way more people there tonight than ever. This is bound to get way out of hand.

Watching CNN right now and the current reporter was just saying that the police presence like it is now isn't necessary. He clearly has no idea what he's talking about. Plus it's also 10pm there and the night has barely started.

I stopped watching CNN on this situation for one of those reasons.

MSM states that the "over presence" of a militarized PD has caused this situation to escalate. If the LPD and the SHP were not present, then those with malicious intent would run amok in the area. Somehow, they fail to see the relation.
