Ferguson Riots

I get that, but GZ was a volunteer..

They let him patrol the property with a gun, as their agent. Volunteer or paid has nothing to do with it. They could be sued vicariously, for his actions. And they could be sued for their own direct negligence in accepting his services.

That's ****ed up, especially when Zimmerman was acquitted ...

That doesn't justify a shooting unless the officer's life was threatened.

In turn, that doesn't justify the mob's actions (just to clarify, before someone infers meaning that isn't there).

Safe to assume that was the case.

Acquittal means the State did not prove the charge beyond a reasonable doubt. The standard in a civil case is much less -- simply more likely than not.

It is not uncommon after a criminal trial and acquittal for jurors to say they think he did it. But feel compelled to acquit because they could not be sure.

What you should say here is that the man is innocent.

If not found guilty of criminal charges there should be no grounds for civil charges.

So his family is already looking to get paid? They must've really loved that great kid.

Never did understand people who do that. Barely give the corpse time to cool before they decide they want money to replace their sons life. ****ing ignorant trash.

*this applies to all people, not just blacks.

Why? Criminal law involves an issue between an individual and the government. Civil law is a dispute between individuals.

You're being tried for the same crime twice, I believe that violates your constitutional rights. If not guilty of one then the other should be moot.

It gets better. If a jury finds him not guilty for any of the homicide/manslaughter/negligence charges, the Feds can charge him with a civil rights violation.

Constitution, Smonstitution.

The Fifth Amendment protects individuals from "double jeopardy" arising from government actions not from civil actions. Acquittal in a criminal case does not prevent the defendant from being the defendant in a civil suit relating from the same incident.

Did it specify in the Neighborhood Watch agreement he was allowed to be armed?
