Ferguson Riots

Looks like that may have been wrong intel. A Guardian reporter just tweeted this;

@jonswaine · 4m

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon: Missouri highway patrol to be handed control of security in ferguson

Maybe the FBI is just handling the shooting incident?

Logical.

But somehow I believe logic is missing from everything that's transpired and will transpire in Ferguson.

Kudos to you, sir. The actions being taken create far more racial-relations damage than most may be aware. I have seen my father change in the past 5-6 years from having become a man of "reluctant acceptance" (e.g. "blacks got a raw deal so I guess it's fair they might get some benefits to help them advance in society") to now becoming more racist than I could ever imagine (e.g. "blacks ruin every city where they become the majority"). And it's events like this, and the Treyvon incident, and even some of Obama's statements, that fuel those racist views.

It seems we are regressing as a multiracial society, and just like in a marriage... once neither party cares about working on the relationship... it doesn't take long for apathy, then hatred, and even violence to build up.

One group wants to progress but a subset of the other thinks the former party owes them everything and when something happens they blame it on perceived bigotry of the former. It's amazing the first party and the subset of the second that wants to make strives have held on as long as they have.

I think it was a huge mistake to have cancelled school today. The more normalcy around there, the better, imo.

The poor people of Missouri. If only their economic situation was better, maybe they would have jobs to go to instead of having time to protest.

Logical.

logic and government and logic and the race card don't go hand in hand. Things are going to get worse in my opinion, based on the fact that i don't have good info, just like everybody else.

So far everything is good. Peaceful marches are being held, MHP Captain in charge is marching with protesters, police have no rifles or riot gear on.

Just passed by MSNBC :crazy: & that guy who has a show called "all in w/Chris Hayes" is doing interviews on the street corners & says all is calm & cool in Ferguson, MO. tonight. But it hasn't turned dark yet either. There's no major sign of force shown by the police just yet but it looks like something's about to start happening soon.

It is hard for me to believe that five days later the protesting is about this one incident. Is it about pent up frustration at what is perceived as decades of abuse and mistrust? Or is it about general mayhem for mayhem's sake?

Probably a bit of both.

The statistics I've seen about black representation in the political power structure is appalling. If they are convinced that the problem is the racial make up of the structure of running the city government, then change the racial make up of the government, don't destroy the city.

5 days after Benghazi you still thought it was about a video so.....
