Feldman says he has a hunch that Kiffin will be our coach!

to pull top talent out of texas--that is a pipe dream. We'd be much better off going after somebody with florida/SE connections. IMO the Vols need to hire a strong offensive mind with some experience who works hard and will like to recruit. You want to hire somebody who's BEST coaching days are ahead--not behind; that's why no Butch Davis or any real veteran. You want to hire a comer, IMO, unless somebody established--not too old--emerges surprisingly.

I think it's considerably easier to find a good defensive coordinator than a really sharp offensive coordinator. UT's problems have been more offensive than defensive in recent years, though both have suffered from a talent falloff. But I would hire a guy who knows offense and can hire a good DC.

Would you say Saban's best days are behind him?

If we get lane Kiffin our d-line coach would be coach O probably hell with there recruiting we will be winning in 2 years!!!!

For as long as I can recall, UT has established a tradition of hiring head coaches who played here, and who understand what it means to be a "Vol." Fulmer's done a great job recruiting, disciplining, and winning critical games over the years, and his schemes, (while often branded as "too conervative" has won more ballgames [% wise] than any active coach.)
Why not allow him at least the opportunity to gather Clawsen, Crompton, and Stevens tgether to find an effective passing attack?

Note: Peyton Manning be an ideal succesor (if Fulmer could manage to hang on through his current contract.
If that doesn't work, and you'll still want a young, energetic Al Davis throw-away....I prefer "Chuckie" Gruden over Lane. JMO

The secret, or not so secret, fantasy of Fulmer Nation. The Fulmer-Manning succession. It will never happen. PM will be in a broadcast chair someday. Gives me a good laugh every time I see someone post though. So thanks for the chuckle. :hi:

I realize that it is probably beyond your recollection but Neyland played at West Point. You know. The guy the stadum is named after.

This is the same coach that tried a 76 yard FG with Oakland.

1) It was the end of the half(well, :05 seconds left)

2) It only came up around 9 yards short

3) He never expected to make it, just to kill the clock, and that's what he did.

Fulmer can't claim the highest winning percentage any more unless you start making qualifications to it.

There is noone with Tennessee ties that is appealing as head coach material unless you want to say Gruden has Tennessee ties, but that is a stretch. This program needs new blood.

Fulmer has had many chances. Any more chances he gets will mean a deeper hole for the next HC to have to dig out of.

Peyton Won't retire form the NFL for another AT LEAST 5-10 more years. If Fulmer is still our HC I'm gonna put a bullet in my head

Billick is waiting on another NFL job. He said something similar to that on the Dan Patrick Show the other day. Secondly, I dont think Billick would want to recruit.

Fulmer and his coaches have a $10 mil buyout---that's some serious money. UT may wait a year or two till it goes down.

I really think that was Kiffin's way of sticking it to "the man."

Al Davis is absolutely ridiculous. Did anyone else hear Warren Sapp's comments? He said Davis would force gameplan changes and call-in plays to the sidelines!

We definitely cannot judge Lane Kiffin's ability as a head coach based on what he did while working under Al Davis. (Which, I guess, means we little to evaluate with.)

Why should they propose a buyout to anyone but Fulmer and Chavis? Both could be negotiated down.... however, that shouldn't have been necessary. CPF's new contract last year should have had a descending buyout based on the number of losses.

I personally hope the new coach would consider keeping the whole offensive staff and at least Brooks and Caldwell.

Anyone else reading the rumours this afternoon re: Fulmer to Assistant AD position, Kiffin to hfc and possible Marvin Lewis to DC?
