Sorry if posted, merge if so...

ESPN - Bruce Feldman Blog

near the bottom...

There's a lot of speculation tying Lane Kiffin to the potential Syracuse opening. I have a hunch that if Kiffin is coaching a team in orange next year, it might be more likely to be the Tennessee Vols. UT could do a lot worse. Kiffin would bring some much-needed new energy and ideas to Knoxville.

Some dudes blog said he thought he would be a good fit here? I could write a blog saying Saban would be coach as of next week.

Bruce Feldman is one of the three or four most respected writers in college football. Here's an idea, blaker: Know what you're talking about before you post.

Hat - what are your thoughts on potential coaches - do you think we could lure Butch away from UNC?

No. As far as candidates, it depends on what route UT wants to go. There are multiple attractive options in each category.

I'm gettin tired of Muschamp. I know everyone loves his enthusiasm, but come on. His d's at auburn was a lot tuberville and he rly hasn't proven himself has hc.

At least this is one media guy that has put a thought about a new UT coach in print.

..... It's not like he predicted him to be the HC at UT next year - just said it's more likely to be here than at Syracuse. (sigh)

Kiffin could be a really good option. He is young and coached at USC before the Raider gig.

I don't know how I feel about Muschamp. He seems like a lot of emotion, but possibly little smarts, to me.

Kiffin is a young guy, and we don't really know what he can do. I wonder what prompted Feldman to revel in the fact that Kiffin would be a replacement for Fulmer. He is very vague in that blog, I wish he would go a little further in why he says that.

He has a good track record at USC, but kind of speculative at how much say he had as OC there, with Carrol, and Sarkissian, who was the QB coach and now OC at USC.

The only thing that gives me hope with Kiffin, is that he is an upbeat guy, he's young, and he was in charge of USC recruiting while he was at USC. And I think we can all agree USC had some awesome guys come through there while he was head of recruiting.

Definitely a very viable candidate.

Who would be your top five that UT could realistically get assuming this is Fulmer's last year.

You realize he's coaching in the NFL right? You don't get to that level by doing nothing.
