FBI locks down Pilot HQ?

Well I don't think this is a small issue like folk are making it out to be. With folks having to pay $6 for fuel in some places there will be a push for more than a slap on the wrist to occur and it should.

The one thing that shocks me with the whole ordeal is the whistleblower sounds like he's a fairly high level employee, who has risen in rank since this all "started". Whistleblowers are usually disgruntled employees (and he/she may be for some reason) or IMO those that are involved and know the hammers coming down soon or later and look to cover their ass end.

Obviously we're not privy to the evidence/testimony obtained prior to the raid but the current stage of reporting is simply stating employee 1 told employee 2 and employee 2 told authorities a year and a half ago and an investigation is suddenly launched? I can't wait to hear what specifics authorities gathered prior to the raid and how they got them, as this goes on.

Until the man and/or company are convicted I'm going to lean towards Haslam's and Pilot being an honest, class-A person/operation and this whole ordeal being a little fishy.

There is a story in which the FBI claims he was well aware of the fraud--sorry not to link--I think it's on espn. If so, he and/or his company could be in some pretty serious trouble. And here's the thing: Prosecutors will be the squeeze on the sales reps and top executives to say who was aware of the alleged scheme.

He'll be fine. Federal thugs have been after HJ over at Gibson Guitar twice I believe, during this administration.

This is interesting but certainly not good PR for one of our biggest boosters. This story alone, without any wrongdoing, is certainly not good for business.

I am a defense attorney with a business degree, but I do very little white collar crime. So, I do not review and work with those statutes at all. To me, there is a fine line between criminal activity and civil liability. Certainly, fraud is wrong and most fraudulent activity is criminal. But, it seems that a rebate is a contractual agreement, and if Pilot Flying J wasn't paying full contractual rebates, then why weren't the customers speaking up? If I purchased a product with a $100 rebate and received a check for $50, I would most likely call that company. Now, if they wouldn't pay up, then I would sue. Ok maybe not for $50 but certainly for the numbers that these rebates were for.

Interesting. To me, there is a big difference with this scenario of simply failing to pay the entire amount and deceiving people with something like a ponzi scheme by promising a high return and taking money. But not good nonetheless.

Wendy's at The Pilot sucks. Can't stand how they try to complete my order before I can finish it.

Nothing is going to happen they r just verifying what they set out or do make sure didn't corner the market. If they delayed payment or had a different pay system to reward rebates who knows the federal government is clueless in anything other than starting a war....lol

They should be investigating on how u could make so much money n let Hart n cheek defy u n other boosters n still be in the state of tn...lol

Ya know.... they could just now be hearing about Coach Gruden coming to the VOLS and are just clearing the way for his arrival. BOOM.

Have friends at pilot. Talked with them today and they told me this is no big deal haslam will walk away with maybe a little slap on wrist but will Probly just have to write a check to payback rebates unpayed.

Always good to hear from behind the checkout counter. :eek:hmy:

Unless something elscalates or changes he should be fine.

Always good to hear from behind the checkout counter.

As a guitar player, I hope HJ gets everything he deserves! Gibson is THE most ridiculously over priced brand for absolutely no reason.

Yep. That was BS for sure. They were not the only Guitar makers importing so called rare and endangered wood products.
