Fan Rules @ Games

You've never said that to anyone.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that he's a full of ****, 15 year old kid...

Anyways, if an usher tried that **** with me, it wouldn't fly. I also would be respectful of folks who are behind me that might be a bit older. If you're up 60-3 on Western Kentucky, then there is no need to stand....now if you're up 15-14 on LSU, and you're on defense...you better be standing the whole ****ing time.

I'm one of those old farts you folks love to blame for everything that you've screwed up. I don't stand very well because I had knee surgery at UT long before there was arthroscopic surgery. I don't sit very well because of an AK47 bullet in my hip from Viet Nam. I do stand up sometimes because my butt gets sore! I stand during the TV timeouts when the red capped numbnutz is on the field and I won't interfere with anyone's view or enjoyment. I love to watch a big play unfold and stand and cheer when appropriate. What really pi$$es me off is when some young dork refuses to stand for the national anthem and then wants to yell at me to "stand up" when it's 50-3 and 4th down.

Well, I am sure there are "old farts" that go to LSU, Florida, Wisconsin, and Oregon games and their stadiums are pretty crazy. Saying the fans don't put more energy into the game when standing is, well, just wrong. I miss my days of being in the student section, it was fun, it was rowdy, it was good times.

TN just seems to have a lot more old, boring fans than other teams do. Why don't you old people give-up your tix to the younger generation so we can make Neyland a feared venue again?

You realize these "old farts" were packing into Neyland before some of us even knew what Rocky Top was. They are the reason Neyland became feared in the first place.

Fan rule #1: Never deprive a true VFL from seeing Big Orange with their own eyes

Some people pay for the right to stand. Others didn't pay to stare at your backside for 4qtrs.

Let me start out by saying I'm a season ticket holder in Sec O Row 27, which is 2 rows from the isle break or whatever, along with 3 other of my friends. We're all in our mid 20s age range. We're very passionate about Tennessee Football. This past weekend during the Buffalo game, right after the kickoff. (maybe the 2nd play of the game) an usher from behind starts yelling for myself and my friends to sit down. (We're not standing on the benches or anything, where just standing where our seats are) He gets my attention cause I'm wearing a #16 jersey, so he singles me out and says I need to sit down so the other 2 rows behind me can see. I turn around and I reply "I'm sorry for any inconvience, but I'm a season ticket holder & no where on my ticket does it say I'm not allowed to stand and cheer" he in turns says "would you like for me to come down there and assist you in sitting in your seat." I understand the people who may have been behind our group couldn't see clearly, but all they had to do was stand. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. My group did sit for majority of the Buffalo game, but we told those behind us that when Georgia, LSU and other SEC teams come to Neyland that we will be standing for the better part of the game. (80-90% of entire game) Non of us drink, curse or any of that nature. We're just passionate fans. Do you think we're in the wrong here? Looking for any suggestions.

Thanks,
Go Vols!

just a question because my position is if people stand and I can't see, I'll stand. I would prefer to sit due to back, hip and legs that are old and I have pain when standing for long periods of time.

My question is, can you cheer for your team while sitting? I've never quite understood why a fan couldn't cheer just as well sitting as standing. I've cheered and cursed the team from both positions.

There were plenty of unsold season tickets this year. They weren't part of a government give-away program so the "younger generation" didn't buy them.

Someone said it best last year.
If the people standing in front of me are standing then i stand. If they are sitting I sit.
but if this really was the case then everyone would be standing because the first row can't see over the players so they stand, this makes 2nd row stand which makes 3rd row stand etc.

Rather ironic that the people that are saying if you cant stand up and yell then you need to stay home then scratch their heads and wonder why the seats arent filled. Seems to be that if those old foggies that cant stand stayed home they'd have even more empties.

Well if the dude wants to come down and assist you in helping you take a seat, I would say come on, and beat the living snot out of him. I would use self defense as my motive because legally, he cannot come down and 'assist" you in taking a seat. If he laid one hand on you, I would throttle him. They can ask you to sit and if you dont, all they can do is have you escorted out by some of K-Ville's "wanna be" finest.

Stand and cheer for your team! dont just stand there for the sake of standing, but by god if they score or have a big play, you are entitled to cheer, as a matter of fact, you're breaking evey man law if you dont cheer.

I would write a note to the University and get the grumpy 'ol basturd's name and complain. they will listen because you're a ticket season holder. Good luck and cheer your guts out!

Like I said earlier. Neyland should be so loud on Saturday that you can't hear that little twit usher.

Shut up, its a football game for goodness sake not the church preacher spilling out bible verses. If he wants to stand then let the man stand. You want to enjoy your time sit in your La-z boy at home and watch it.
So what you're saying is, if people don't want to stand the whole game, they should just stay home? Brilliant! Talk about an empty stadium. Just for the record, I sit down when I sing hymns at church too. Does that mean I'm unfit for attending church as well?

I will be 38 in two months. i've had shoulder surgery, 5 disk fuzed in my neck, both quads pulled/torn in the past two years, and both feet broke. I was born, have lived, and will die a Vol fan and i will be standing the entire Tenn vs Ga game. The last game i was able to go to was Tenn vs Notre Dame 1990. It's been a long time coming and i'm going to enjoy ever minute of this weekend. So if you are in section P row 14, or around it, please stand with me and celebrate being at the greatest stadium in college football, watching the greatest team(in my heart) play the greatest sport in the world "College football

Funny. You're the kind of person that makes me "accidentally" spill things on the back of your shirt throughout the game.

And you're the kind of person I'd kick the crap out of.

If you're going to act like a nerd by "accidentally" spilling crap on me, I'm going to treat you like a nerd by intentionally beating the crap out of you because I know you're being a little wuss.

I'm not even a fighter but people like you are pathetic. Why not key someones car while you're at it? Instead of standing up for yourself(figuratively and literally), you do the cowardly thing and fight back by pretending like it wasn't you in the process. Big man

Why are people always so angry on this board? lol Be mad at the puppies from GA this week.

Because apparently there are fellow Vol fans who intentionally dump stuff on you and then say "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to". Who wouldn't be angry if someone intentionally poured a drink on their head?

Let me guess, you stand the whole time don't you?

I just saw your post about "accidentally" and I guarantee you that you have never done this. If you have sir you are what I call trashy by ruining someone else day just because you cant see over someone who is standing. What if it was their first game? You sir are what is causing all the problems in Neyland.

And to the OP I sit on the 2nd row.

Depends on what the drink is and what kind of shape i'm in.

I stand the whole game because I'm in the student section and the people in front of me stand. Not a big deal. To each his own, but unless the people behind you are asking you to sit... then don't.

Also... To the guy spilling his drink on purpose. Congrats on the promotion because nothing is cheap in that stadium.

So I'm the smart ass and YOU'RE the dumb ass? I guess I'll have to live with that. If YOU'RE going to stand up the whole game and confront the crowd when they tell you to sit down, I just want you to be polished. The last thing we want is for you to say something ignorant. Then you might look stupid in front of hundreds of people. Maybe it's too late, I don't know.

You do realize you are arguing with a kid? And SOZ you need to lose the angry punk kid attitude that you develop from time to time. It is healthier. Just my :twocents: :good!:
