Fallout 4

Finished the main quest tonight, and also am done with all the non-radiant side quests I could find.

I noticed the same progression from F3 to F4 as Skyrim had from Oblivion. The side content and RPG elements are comparatively lacking, but in every other department it is a huge improvement. The main quest was a lot stronger. You can tell they put a ton of effort into creating the world - it's probably the most fun I've ever had exploring in a video game.

I still think New Vegas is a better Fallout game and RPG, but F4 was an absolute blast. Hopefully Obsidian will get another crack at the series to help bide the time until TES VI. If we could somehow combine Obsidian writing with Bethesda world design, the result would be a masterpiece.

I've put 24 hours into this since Sunday (Christmas break!) and I can see how that dude got addicted. Just one more Minutemen quest...

And I'm way too OCD with clearing out and setting up the settlements. Having the supply lines set up has made defending the smaller ones much easier.

Agreed. I'm 40+ hours in and haven't noticed many copy and paste dungeons/buildings yet, but they plagued all previous Bethesda games.

That's why I didn't really mind the radiant Minutemen quests at first. They send you to faraway parts of the map and incentivize exploration. And I would say that 75-80% of the locations have some sort of unique character or backstory to them, whether through terminals, holotapes, skeleton placement, etc.

Once you've been to the Corvega plant 6 times setting up a camera or rescuing a settler, it just gets annoying. There are some really good hand-crafted side quests in the game, but at a certain point I just had to give up on the radiant quests from the Minutemen and other factions. I'm supposed to be building them up to be a major force of good in the Commonwealth yet I'm the only person who can defend a settlement I couldn't care less about against six Raiders.

can't tell you how many times on of the female Abernathy's have been kidnapped. really ticking me off.

I got to the point that whenever I picked up gear I don't end up using I give it to a settler, so that when I have to defend all I need is to just show up and let them kill to their hearts content while I loot.

also did anybody start having the settlements dig out the synths hiding in them after you completed the main story? I have had a couple places call me in to defend and all they are doing is shooting up one settler who has a synth component on them.

How many hours do you have in?

Alright, I'm a noob.

I need to build a radio beacon at the drive-in. I have all the materials to do so at Sanctiary, how to I transfer all the material to the drive-in?

I'm a level 8, and local leader 2 needs like level 13 or something.

You can go to the Sanctuary workbench and transfer the resources or junk items containing the resources to your inventory and haul them to the drive-in.

Or set a supply line with a "Settler" from Santuary to Drive-In

If you have local leader 1 just open a supply line from sanctuary to the drive in by sending one of your settlers there

I am playing 3 right now (free code with Fallout 4 purchase) and enjoying it. I have heard complaints that 4's dialog is really stripped down and people feel that Bethesda really did not make any improvements.

Have you not played 3 before? I loved 3 and NV. 4 was fun, but it wasn't quite as impactful as 3 was when it came out. It's still a damn good game, it's just hard to stand next to giants.

The Dialog wheel feels a little more stripped down because it doesn't show what exactly is going to be said. If you have it on PC though, there's this

Full Dialogue Interface (NewDialog English and CN-DE-ES-FR-IT-JA-PL-PTBR-RU translations) at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community

The dialogue itself is a lot better than Fallout 3's. The dialogue wheel system is a mixed bag. I'm not much of a fan because it stripped out skill checks and it doesn't show exactly what the character is going to say.

Charisma Checks are still in the game and I suspect the full dialogue mod will be one of the mods that makes its way to Consoles.

Nope, never played it. Glad I am playing it now. I am sure I will enjoy 4.

FO3 was one of my favs. Never played it until 2 years ago and quickly became one of my favorite games. The beginning was a little boring and too long for me though. I can't remember, but did your copy of FO4 come with the GOTY edition of FO3? If so, then you will very much enjoy the DLC. Mother Ship Zeta and Operation Anhorage was awesome.

You're right, but I miss being able to solve quests and whatnot using a high Barter skill or Explosives skill, or notice things with high Perception in dialogue. That's just part of Fallout and it always has been until now. I can't really think of any reason it was done this way other than that the wheel and voiced protagonist were limiting factors.

Can anyone help or give me advice on the bunker hill mission? I get to the siths, and no matter what I choose it always freezes on me. I can't continue the story..really frustrating. I can kill the siths, deactivate, let them go....I even tried killing everyone, nothing works.
