Fallout 4

Finally found the ceiling of how high you can build. disappointed that my penthouse can't be any higher up.

Started over with a new character. I'm thinking about getting all of the scrap from Sanctuary, Red Rocket, and other settlements and create a huge settlement somewhere. I haven't chose one yet though. Any ideas? I was thinking about doing one at the Drive-in? I don't really know any of the other settlements though.

I wasn't very far along on my other character. But I used all of the scrap stuff up at the Sanctuary.

The Drive-In is probably the best choice if you want an open location that you can clear out early on.

Other good ones to keep an eye out for:
The Castle - You'll get this one if you do enough Minutemen quests.
Spectacle Island - Clearing this place out is a b****, but it is absolutely enormous.
Greygarden - You can build on the overpass here - pretty cool and close to the starting area.
Abernathy Farm
Kingsport Lighthouse - Great setting.
Croup Manor - Ditto.

Thanks guys I'm thinking either Castle or the Drive-in. Also which perks should I go for first? Gun Nut and the one that lets you start trade routes (I forget the name?)

Rifleman, Locksmith (I always get these as soon as they become available), Local Leader, Medic, Gun Nut, Hacker, Scrapper, Scrounger, Idiot Savant, Better Criticals. And of course some of the later ones are also pretty good.

I think Cap Collector is also required if you want to place the high level stores in settlements - and settlements are a pretty expensive hobby, especially if you need to buy resource shipments.

The castle is my main settlement. Definitely a good place

If I build there I will rebuild the walls or most of them with the concrete blocks in the floors section. I'll need a lot of concrete but I saw that there is a lot in the basement of the castle? Also heard you can buy in bulk from someone in the game?

Yes. A lot of traders let you buy crafting resources in bulk (usually in sets of 25), but it isn't every trader and most of the ones I have found to sell in bulk are the caravan traders so it is pretty random.

Also, all of the traders who do sell crafting resources in bulk do not have every resource. Usually only 4-6 different resources.

the general merch vendor in Diamond City has a ton of bulk materials, if I recall

finally wandered over the the museum of witchcraft at lvl 32... promptly got one shotted by what's inside

Has anyone done the unlimited settlement size glitch? I'm already over the limit at the Drive-in.

Yeah, just get a bunch of weapons, drop them, and then pick them up in build mode by storing them. The size bar will go down for each one. Then you can grab them from the workbench again and repeat.

Thanks man, I'll try that out tonight when I get off work.

I have a pretty big settlement at the Drive In but haven't even gotten close to the max on the size limit. and i haven't done the cheat.

finished my first play through. ended up being level 58, and still had plenty of stuff I could do. but I wanted to finish so I could start play Ark: survival evolved on Xbox.

I'm getting close to the point where I usually start a new character and focus on a specific build. My first character is always a jack-of-all-trades but master of none type; it's a good way to get a feel for what the best perks are relative to play style.

Getting to the point where I'm having trouble with enemies at the same level as me though on expert difficulty.

I'm building a stone wall all the way around, so it's taking up a lot of size.

Last night I finally cleared out the castle. The first attempt I didn't bring enough ammo or stuff for HP and I got owned. Had to go buy a few things from Diamond City and then went back and cleared it out. Should I finish all of the Min Men quest before I start any others? After that were should I go from there?

are the stone walls something you get from a magazine? I have yet to have the option to build stone or concrete walls. Or is that a mod?

got my settlement built up with everything I could need and a few things I don't and now I am just messing around with it. skybridges to nowhere, erroneous amounts of defenses, that sort of stuff.

Believe he's talking about the concrete foundation pieces.
