Faizon Brandon QB1

No he doesn’t have to show us that. QB is a non issue for Heupel. Our offense always finds a way to perform. Again, non issue.
There is not a lot of success in counting on a "we'll find a way" to plug the holes plan every year vs building a school as a destination for talent.

Heupel is an extremely talented offensive minded coach. He DOES do more with less, as did Cignetti, so why aren't we attracting top level QB upperclassman talent to Knoxville?

Why do you think Leavitt signed where he did vs UT? It's not a mystery.

Nico definitely didn’t live up to the hype unfortunately
After Nico, I concluded that I do not wish to see another QB who doesn’t sound like a nerd in an interview. Dobbs, Hooker, and Manning all sound like book worms when they speak. Not just well spoken, but Peyton sounded like a guy who give a 6 hour lecture on their game plan without repeating himself.

Nico, on the other hand, began every sentence with “shooot!”

Money. I don't think we have enough to draw a top level QB or I don't think we're willing to spend it on a QB after Nico.

In the end, I think that will be a problem for UT as other teams get "splash" QBs. While defense may win championships, a talented QB makes it easier to recruit offensive talent.

Would you, as an elite WR, want a Heisman candidate QB throwing to you vs an RS FR or true FR?

Probably doesn't make that much difference as long as you pay me what I want.

The same holds true for most players now, regardless of position.

If you're wanting to put up numbers to get a high draft grade, even if Podunk U offers big bucks for the coach's fat son to throw you the ball every snap, it's a bad investment. You'll find yourself triple teamed all day long with some loser QB trying to hit you.

College money, for elite players, is peanuts.

Imagine what that kid at Ohio State, Jeremiah Smith, is likely to make in the NFL. He has good talent all around him to be able to showcase his skills. Last year, teams had to worry about another great WR (Tate) and Smith. That makes it better for everyone and it's why UT stacks the WR room when possible.

If we would get an elite QB to throw to them, we'd be even more of a "WR U" school.

Not talking about Podunk U. Talking about UT vs LSU, in the instance of Leavitt. There's not a lot of difference in the wr rooms, so it's all about money and now money not maybe later NFL money.

I agree about Leavitt. UT, if they could've gotten Leavitt, would be in the CFP conversation, for sure AND our recruiting would be even better going forward because we showed we will pay to get there. My feeling is we don't have big donors willing to invest top dollar in a QB again after Nico.

As it is, we're where we are with QBs and our WR room, which is excellent, may do well..... or may have a QB who is spotty and young all season.

I hope Heupel can structure the offense to minimize freshman errors, lean into the run, and keep the ball out of harm's way. With Joey A, who threw a lot of picks at App State, Heupel mostly kept the ball safe (with the Alabama pick 6 being a painful play call and execution mistake.)

It will be interesting to see what he cooks up for these young guys.

Yup if the other WR aren't good, double on the one good WR and make the other guys beat you and since you're being pretty much blanketed for the season, you're not going to put up numbers.

If I was going to split duties, it would only be for one game. The guy that steps up, gets the job. I'd want the QB and offense to have 2 full games getting in sync for the Texas game because it won't get any easier going forward.
GMac would for sure leave at the end of the season if he's QB2.
But if GMac doesn't separate himself in the fall I'm rolling with Brandon. I think fans can live with a true freshman that is showing flashes vs playing a guy that let a true freshman hang with him and for all purposes would just be starting because of seniority
If Faziion we better be ready to put up money to keep him, I think more so than Gmac. I want the best one to start regardless of who it is

If GMac and Faizon are tied, then you play the guy with the upside. Either guy could hit the portal, can't worry about that but if the team has a good year under Faizon and he looks good. I don't think he'd leave, the goal for a QB is get to the NFL and top 10 draft which is going to be more than NIL packages, sticking with a team you've had success with helps those chances
Any qb would leave in todays college game for more money

Heupel has been a "I've got my guy" for QBs. Aside from Milton getting hurt, he's not going to play one, then the other, unless we'rei truly sucking with his first choice.

So far, he picks his man and rides with him so what do you think? We're going to suck so he'll need to replace his QB1 during the season?
I think Hype knows who the starting qb will be. And I think he knew before spring training began, just my opiniion

As I said, were you pleased with Nico's development, Merk's development, and are we questioning G-Mac's development?

I'll give you that Hooker and Milton benefited from Heupel's work. It was good work.

Joey A was on an upward trajectory from App State to UCLA before he got to UT. It's impossible to say "Heupel made him an NFL prospect" because a B1G starter is going to get a good look from the NFL.

In recent terms, since getting to UT...... Heupel's track record for developing FRESHMEN QBs? Care to comment?
If i am not mistaken, Nico was the only qb Hype recruited as a freshman who ever started, and he was in my opinion just average qb

Brandon fits heupel system way more than gmac does . Brandon will do fine . He has good pocket presence and got great physical ability go along with great atheleticism.

True. Forgot about them two. Eason was a surprise for me though. Didn't Eason hit the Richt/Smart transition ?? He may have just been a victim of systems ?? But Kirby and Richt were/are similar systems. Not a huge/drastic change. Fields came on a little later and made the league.
In case you haven't noticed it other than the transfer that ended up at Miami last season for his senior campaign, Kirby Smart finds a way to make sure a Georgia kid is his QB.

I agree that Faizon will be qb1 this season. That being said I am preparing myself for a growing year and some patience.
