kudos on the Sambas post. I had Vans in Jr. High and graduated to the Sambas in H.S. As to the people who have posted toys, I still have my favorite childhood toy. I keep him on a shelf in my office.

Reminds me of the scene in Half Baked between Willie Nelson and Dave Chappelle.

Willie is buying weed from Dave:

W: How much?
D: $100.00
W: Damn, in my day a dimebag used to cost a dime.
D: Times of changed
W: You know how much condom cost back then?
D: No
W: Me neither, we never had to use them!

I can't believe someone else remembers clear Pepsi. I have argued with my girlfriend and family about that several times. They tell me that I am crazy and there never was such a thing.

It came out when i was in....maybe 7th grade, so 1992 or so, i saw it at the store on Block Island when i was fishing for Fall Stripers with my dad, it was awful, in retrospect, but when you're a kid, it's awesome because its new.

Also Tamagatchis, Zubaz pants (the tiger striped/flames awful things, i had a Green Bay Packers pair, i feel like shooting myself every time i see a pic of me in them in an album)

I remember:

The Green Machine (A 4 wheel big wheel)
The smell of rubber on all those toys like remote controlled cars
Those shoddy race tracks that the little cars couldn't complete a lap without falling off
Hungry-Hungry Hippo
Simon
Atari, Entelevision, Odyssey, and Ninteno
The smell of the plastic in those Halloween costumes
All of the ice cream from the "Ice Cream Truck"
That weird green/brown christmas tree looking candy that you sucked on at the movies, and goobers
Stickers that people used to have to put in their windshield (for proof of something, I forget)
Full-service gas stations
Pulling up the liscence plate to pump your gas

CLOTHES:
Vaurnet Sunglass T-shirts(not the sunglasses, but the wifebeater shirts)
Panama Jack T-Shirts
OP (Ocean Pacific)
Bucks (the shoes)
Duck boots (yeah, you remember those)
Duckheads
Wool Trench Coats
Parachute Pants
Vans
Jams
V-Necks
bleached jeans
Ray Bans

Some of you may remember this from your younger days too. Going to the store to get those football wrapped candies for $.01, making "suicide" fountain drinks (with coke, dr pepper, sprite, mello yello, and whatever else), playing a game of joust or Space Invaders because all of the convenient stores had atleast 2 video arcade games, getting some Rolos because they were good back then, getting some Big League Chew to be cool, getting one of those little rubber balls that you would bounce once and it would bounce on down the road and out of sight, getting ICE's with the NFL Logo on the cups, checking out with the $2.50 your mother gave you to buy all that candy and play those games, and saying hello to all of the minnows in the bait tank on your way out.

What about collecting baseball cards because you wanted to, and you could get 15 cards and a hard stick of gum for 50 cents...when the card condition didn't mean crap, back when baseball cards were for kids who loved baseball, not 350lb guys who made a life of it while the rest of us went to college, war, or work?
