Extremely premature coaching candidate discussion (merged)

Obviously Butch is not the answer and he's not going to get it done in the SEC. When and if Butch gets fired, whose your candidates for his replacement? My top 3 would be:

Chip Kelly
Gary Patterson
David Cutcliffe

I like Cutcliffe...and Peyton as QB coach (which he said he'd love to do). We'd get any offensive player in the country...

That would be a top three for a lot of us, but none of those choices are realistic

Lets be real here. We will fire CBJ, but probably not til after game 10 of NEXT year. We will use the last 2 games and post season to search for a coach and end up hiring some MWC or AAC coach that took an ok team and kept them above average for their conference. Now the coach from a non-P5 conference is gonna happen cause no top coach is gonna leave their job to come here and the P% coaches we could get we don't want. SO instead of looking for a coach that had an ok-decent record, we need to find a coach that has actually made the team MUCH better since being there and kept them there. We don't need a coach like BJ that just followed a real coach and maintained what another coach built.

Love the Whittingham idea. Don't think Patterson would leave a very soft Big 12 anytime soon. I'll always have Gruden as my fantasy/never-going-to-happen-but-I-want-it-anyway candidate, but this administration isn't willing to pay for a name-brand coach. In any case, I don't think Hart pulls the trigger on Butch this year, and not next year if Team 120 wins at least 7 games.

The best thing that could happen is Payton Manning retires from the NFL this year and takes the OC job at Tennessee. Before you tell me how stupid I am Manning actually said about a month ago that he would consider the job after he retires. I think the writing is on the wall that he will retire this year. With Manning running the offense Jones could just do whatever head coaches do. With Manning on board you could move Debord to OL coach.

"The Bore" needs to be moved out of Knoxville.

I keep hearing he won't be replaced no matter what due to the high buy out. So........12 mil? 6mil?
Anyone know? I guess I could look it up but..........

I'm lazy
