Extremely premature coaching candidate discussion (merged)

But are there plenty of coaches that could come here, win the same games, recruit on the same level, and unite a fan base on verge of collapse... No. I think not. We were a year away from contention at the beginning of the season... Y'alls oranges shaded glasses clouded ur vision. 2016 has been our target year since CBJ's arrival... What can't u seem to grasp about that reality.

I completely agree here. Everyone that thought we would go 10-2 is now wanting a new coach. 10-2 was unrealistic this year and a new coach is just as unrealistic. Everyone needs to pump the breaks, take a deep breath and relax.

OP, if we lose Saturday, you can probably take off "Extremely" from the title. If we lose to Vandy, you can take off "premature".

Stop this idiotic crap. Did I have high hopes for this year? Yeah, I was optimistic, but I knew, realistically, we were still a year or two off from contending for something. It's idiots who expect instant gratification, and put insanely high expectations on a young team because we were able to bring in a couple good classes. We still have a long way to go, but Butch is getting us there. You guys want a coaching change every 3 years? No. Stop being dammed idiots and calling for someone's job after a couple (heartbreaking) losses. Yes, I felt sick afterwards too, but suck it up, Butch is the only reason we're competitive in the first place.

My realistic order

1 Mullen - beats SEC schools regularly and took the vandy from the west to six straight bowls and 3 top 25 recruiting classes

2 Wittingham- he wins. Might not be a elite recruiter but he can beat the best of the best

3 briles - incredible offense but lacks defense

4 graham - he wins every were he goes . And he took two programs in the dumps back to being above average in three years

5 Fuente- great offense , more then a one year wonder , brought memphis to a 10 win season !!!!! But not sure he can recruit and defense is awful this year .

You know who the real idiots are? People who think that expecting a grown man to be mediocre at his job in year three while making 4 million a year is wanting "instant gratification".

Dan Mullen would be a home run hire! What he could do with this roster would be incredible and I bet he would bring in top 10 classes year after year here

Kyle Wittingham has been at Utah 21 and is a mormon. He don't care anything about Tennessee. He's worked half his life to build that thing, he's happy and no desire to be part of this coaching carousel. 0% chance he ever coaches at Tennessee. I hate when people dismiss Gruden talk but seriously forget about Wittingham

Ya all that is true until we put a check in front of him for 8.3 mil per. You like that?

I have heard rumors, that behind closed doors, Mega Boosters are trying holding meeting with Fulmer and Majors together trying to recruit Jon Gruden himself to come and save our football team. This has all been going on at the Jefferson County VFW, from my understanding it has been agreed to in principle as follows: Gruden Head Football Coach, Randy Shannon as Defensive Coordinator, Coach Cut as Offensive Coordinator, Lance Thompson as LB coach, and Butch has agreed to stay on board as Recruiting coordinator and the last piece of the puzzle which can not be made public will blow your mind when leaked, but after the super bowl the new QB coach should be available, and the Oline will not have to worry about "bulk" anymore because we now have a connection to lots of Papa Johns....just saying....It is happening!!!!!!

Jon Gruden. Timing is right this time.

He's a 2 game over .500 coach (at Tampa) including his 12-4 first season with another coaches players. That puts him at 45-51 at Tampa taking away that first season.

He's 95-81 overall with only 4 out of 11 season's with at least 10 wins not including playoffs.

Maybe he will come in and help Manning coach the QB's in the future.

You forgot to mention the super bowl ring.... Tampa was actually a very similar situation to UT. All the pieces in place just need someone to coach em up.

Soon...
