Explosion in Boston?

You mean the one quote from a lifetime, to which you assign the broad conclusion that he hates our culture? The one from the one source? The one that is no longer there?

Ok, folks, case closed. Everyone can just go on home.

The NYT piece that golfballs posted that I'm sure you also completely ignored, republished the quote exactly.

I'm guessing the Photo Journalist took it down to avoid the heat but was willing to verify the quotes to the NYT. NYT re-ran the quotes I listed earlier.

Unless the NYT isn't a reputable news source.

In what universe does one average citizen get off 30 rounds against one terrorist?

And even if so, does that justify the murders we can point to over the years accomplished, at least in some part, to enormo-magazines?

Look how many rounds the cops got off last night in the fire fight. One dead guy by getting run over and the other apparently does not have a scratch on him.

I'm not really questioning that it was said.

I question your thinking that such comments simply compel the conclusion that you have clearly reached.

I'll say this again.

I'm basing what I am saying on this:

  • FBI investigation that proves that the YouTube activity was one of the Tsarnaev brothers
If they do, the facts of the older brothers opinions about the US (from 2010.. which isn't "ages ago") as well as his Aug 2012 and on activity on videos that are preaching hateful speech (several of the videos were taken down before the bombings due to EULA violations and were cited as hate speech by YouTube) and jihad. Then this guy sets off a bomb within 7 months of the spike of Muslim extremist activity.

I've also said before that these guys don't represent Islam and they are, for the most part, seen as total scumbags by the Muslim community. However, it doesn't mean they don't exist and pretending that young men aren't getting manipulated by a religious-based idealism is nothing short of naive.

There are muslim extremists out there. They have money and they have resources. They're not villagers in a shack in Afghanistan. Those are the cannon fodder. AQ is sophisticated. If you try to pretend that an organization that can pull off 9/11 isn't sophisticated you're also lying to yourself. If you're trying to convince yourself that bin Laden was AQ you're also naive.

Colleges recruit online. Companies recruit online. To try to pretend like AQ and other sympathetic organizations don't recruit online or look for patterns in someone's posting history is really naive.

Just ask yourself, if you were trying to recruit for a fundamentalist organization... wouldn't you take advantage of the biggest resource available to you?

You would. And they do as well. AQ has been known to recruit at colleges in Europe (that is where some of the 9/11 hijackers were recruited) and they especially target engineers. Just google "Al Qaeda engineers" and go at it. You'll see a definite pattern.

Again, I'm not saying he was recruited by AQ. He certainly didn't come here as a AQ but it is certainly a possibility that his posting history through YouTube was noticed and he was contacted. It's simply a possibility.

I made that clear when I said it above but I guess it was past the 5 word threshold some people seem to have. I really need to work on posting in the Twitter age.

Man, this is taking too damn long to find a 19 year old that has seemed to vanish into thin air. Have they thought to look into the garbage cans of the home owners? I mean come on man.

Its possible.

Actually, if the second guy ends up dead, then absent one of them leaving a note, it will be particularly dissatisfying to watch Hannity screeching for an entire year that anyone would wonder if there's more to it than just that.

I'm going to edit here and say its probable that DC is correct. Although I still think that a link to any sort of real AQ training seems unlikely.

Finally a good point.

I worry that he's taken a hostage and is holed up somewhere there.

Or that he has more bombs and is looking for victims so he can go out in a blaze of glory.

You have to think that the cops have a perimeter established and are just waiting.

:) I thought you might be out "roaming around" town seeing what's up. I haven't seen you post in awhile & was curious of what might be up w/you being so quite. :hi:

Definitely not going to be out roaming around town today. Sating my curiosity is not worth getting killed over.

Played some cards with the wife.

Haven't heard that euphemism before!!

So, is the city of Boston like on lockdown "all over" or just parts of? & are you in the part of?

The order is citywide; this morning it only covered Watertown, Cambridge, Allston, and Brighton. I live in Allston.

Certainly can go out, but between this guy last being spotted 1-1.5 miles away and his tendency to leave explosive devices behind, I'm okay with sitting home and being bored for a while.

:hi: Good to know that you & the wife are A-ok. You still planning on moving back to Kansas?
