Explosion in Boston?

I was watching Fox and didn't see this. The only thing close was suggesting that if ball bearings were involved that is a very common tactic in IEDs.

They also said it bore similarities to the Olympic bombing and specifically mention Eric Rudolph in connection to that.

Put another way, I'm not seeing the Muslim hate.

Can you give examples or link examples?

Can't link it as I'm on phone. Probably couldnt find it anyway. As to Fox, their interviewer was pressing guy to say its reminiscent of tactics "in the Mideast" and "foreign terrorism." On msnbc, Matthews asked his guy if he thought it significant they might have attacked the JFK library because he was a Democrat.

Put it this way-- both just flat making crap up. Bombs with ball bearings are hardly unique to Al Qaeda. The Olympic bomber did that. And the JFK thing might not even be a device.

They should report what happened, pass on actual information, and otherwise shut up.

Mine is on Fox too and I haven't heard that angle. Maybe we can get some examples?

I can't speak for other stations but the ball bearing thing is the only suggestion I've heard. In the same discussion however they continually said we don't know and gave examples of how it bore resemblance to domestic terror acts.

They aren't making the ball bearing thing up. I watched the interview and Baier wasn't pressing the guy to say anything. Never did either claim it was unique to AQ. Baier is also the one who brought up Rudolph. Multiple reports from witnesses include terms like BBs, shot (as in shotgun shell innards). There is suspicion that shrapnel was involved. It is a clue and should be reported.

Can't speak for MSNBC but I think you are looking for stuff that really isn't there.

Ok, let's assume they said both. Same with msnbc.

I think they should say NEITHER at this point.

Witnesses reported shrapnel like BBs. It is worth reporting. Investigation will draw conclusions based on bomb signature and construction. Also worth reporting.

No no, it was much earlier than him coming on. I was flipping around. First commentary I saw from msnbc promoted domestic angle, first I saw on Fox was that its Mideast.

And now Baer suggesting criticism of Obama for not calling it terrorism. Christ. Come on. Even Hume rolling his eyes at that.

We get it. The whole world is speculating. If you don't want to hear it, change the channel or wait for accurate news.

Politicizing this in any way at this point should be borderline criminal. Lets hear the facts before the analysis on intent takes place. It should be information gathering at this point, nothing more.

I agree and I think most are living by that rule.

However if you have facts (such as evidence of BB) it's a natural to then move to what could that tell you. That's where the line is fine and someone might get bent out of shape that they are politicizing it.

I haven't heard any news group make any statements about what they believe motives to be or who is responsible.

Fox host specifically baited his interview into saying Mideast link. I'm sorry if others didn't see it.

Well..bombings in public usually = middle east link...and that is world wide. But of course 18-35 year old Caucasian males are the top threat according to DHS..

That there was shrapnel placed in it tells us NOTHING. That's my point. It doesn't make it more or less likely its domestic or foreign.

The only coverage I have watched is CNN and wolf blitzer has already speculated the anti gov loony angle based on nothing other than it is tax day and in Boston. To me it is irresponsible to say that, even if it is just speculation.

what the shrapnel was will tell LE quite a bit - hence the point of the discussion on the news.

No, that's not where they stop. They said initially it was "ball bearings, what does that tell you, is it Mideast? They use that over there". I'm paraphrasing but it was there. Very early on in coverage.

I'm sure after that the editors said ok cool it. So they've covered the fact that the Olympic bomber used it, too.

Look it may be domestic or foreign Islamic. It's ok to say ball bearings or BB's but you shouldn't say "like..." after that.

I agree. Matthews suggesting its that because JFK was a Democrat was just stupid.
