Expecting Baby Daddy Thread

Advice if it is your first

Get all your projects done now and do the hospital tour if they offer one

That advice paid off huge for me. They had a daddy boot camp at our hospital that was just 2 hours long but listening to 1st time dads give real world advice was excellent

I've got most of her room done, just waiting on the crib to be delivered. We are doing a new parents class at the hospital starting this wednesday that is 3 hours a week for 6 weeks

We are doing great...besides my guest room is full of too much baby **** and have to work on the baby room over the holidays. Crib is nice but came in too many pieces.:) Fawk you Pottery Barn. Too much money$$$$$$$$$$$.
Glad you and the wife doing good...we are about a month behind you.

Good to hear. I am gonna have to do the crib soon, lol

The tour alone is worth it. It makes things familiar for when your panicking your ass of

It's not that bad and you really can use a lot of it. Lactation class is a trip.
We had to take a mat to ours

Just enjoy it. My oldest is 12 today. I've never broken down like I did when he came out. I didn't think I would and I pride myself on being calm and cool, but I lost it. Been thinking about that today.

Im sure I'll be the same way ply

Take the class, write up the birthing plan, have someone there to film it. For us, my oldest son was my 3rd kid and my wife's first. We did it all and believe me it helped. Of course we left our copy of the birthing plan at home and the staff overlooked the copy in her chart, so we didn't have the soothing music, reduced lighting, natural style birth. Instead, we had my wife cussing like a soldier, my mother saying "why does she keep using the f-word?" and the MPs escorting the anesthesiologist to the hospital. Then during the birth, my mom was in charge of filming the event. We got the moment of his head coming out, then the camera kind of veers off to the side for a minute as the rest of him emerges off camera, then the camera comes back on target to my wife's crotch, while I'm cutting the umbilical cord and our son starts crying etc, again, all off camera. We have about 5 minutes of video of her nether regions and about 5 seconds of the actual birth.

The point of all of this is the process helps, but in the end, the doctors and nurses really know their stuff and everything will be alright. It is a great event and your life will be changed for the better.

Oh Dear Lord...I am just going to try not too pass out in the floor while filming. I am always tough in desperate situations but thinking about the birth has me nervous. I'm sure it will be better than expected though. Thanks York for bringing back the anxiety.:)

That's awesome.
With my first, I had gone to play in a basketball game, then went for beers after. It was 4 weeks prior to due date. My wifes water broke at 2am. All the planning, packing, etc was toast.
During contractions, I realized I was blocking her focus spot on the wall when she said,
"You are standing in my ****ing focus spot."
When necessary, i remind her that one of us has cussed the other, and it wasn't me.

You guys might ought to take something for your stomach when the time comes. Haven't seen it mentioned...

Our hospital doesn't allow filming. Ours turned into c sections at the last minute, talk about scary. Sitting next to your wife in a surgery room is not something anyone plans. Again that's why the tour is good and asking lots of questions. Whoever said the DR's and nurses know what their doing was spot on.

Just go to every class you can. Most of them were free at our hospital and we picked up useful info in them all. In our newborn care class they taught us how to swaddle. Can't emphasize enough how much that helps. Once we got it right our lives changed and he sleeps like a champ now

but in the end, the doctors and nurses really know their stuff and everything will be alright. It is a great event and your life will be changed for the better.

I know they do it all the time but I was amazed at how they all worked together in the room. It was really impressive and comforting at the same time.

Doing well. Hit 33 weeks 2 days ago. We have the baby's room almost finished. All furniture assembled. Haha. Just counting down the last few weeks

Hey, SDV, I may have asked you before but don't remember. Do you ever watch the California Gold shows with Huell Howser? If, they're still on.

Haha yes I do. I think he's originally from TN
