I agree that the TSSAA holds back kids ability to learn more and become better players.

To the Robertson county guy....Put the players from all those schools together could make a h3ll of a team.

Be careful though because we could do the same here in Sumner county and you would have a rough Friday night when you had to play us, LOL.

My son is a S at Westmoreland where their claim to fame is having a Sonic and a Dollar General Store in that little podunk town, LOL.

I'm amazed that we made the playoffs this year for the 1st time in forever but I love it because at least I'll get to watch the kids play another game tonight and they'll have some more fun.

We might actually get lucky and get the win since we're playing at home and we're undefeated at home this year so I hope that streak continues for the kids sake.

Tiny town and small high school but we're typical SEC area where Friday nights means something and we can get pretty loud and rowdy when we overflow all the seats at our little field.

If you folks haven't been to a good high school football game in awhile then go see a game and have some good fun and cheer on the kids.

You just might find a diamond in the rough and can pass a name or 2 along to our Vols so they can check the kid out and you never know because you just might stumble across the next Al Wilson and our Vols could use a couple like him in K town nowdays.

GO EAGLES!!!

Ooooops, I mean...

VFL...GBO!!!

I wouldn't settle for second or 3rd choice, I'd take Gruden in a heartbeat but if won't come now, stay with Dooley one more year and see how it goes. If not good, then start a coaching search, maybe even another run at Gruden a year from now.

Man, Sumner county would still be at least 2 or 3 schools, because there are so many more people than RobCo. I'd hate to see a White House/Portland combination with the way those schools have won state titles in the past. You're right, it would make for some big time high school games, and college coaches would actually bother to come check out the talent.

My concern is that Hart will retain Dooley. Then Strong will go to Arkansas. Malzan will go to Auburn and Gruden will end up somewhere else.
Then Dooley gets fired at the end of the 2013 season and no really, really good coach is available to come to U.T.
Then we will all realize that had Hart pulled the plug in 2012, we could have had Gruden.

I say gauge the interest that Gruden has in U.T. If he is serious, then we fire Dooley and hire Gruden....

If we can't get our top three choices to be receptive to coming to U.T., the just keep Dooley, until a real good coach is available and ready to come to U.T.

Don't fire Dooley just to fire him. Have a great coach already hired before you fire him.....

That right there!!!! If it isnt a slam dunk, homerun, or Big, Gigantic, Monstrous hire than just keep CDD. Everything hinges on can or would we be able to get the guy UT would want.

I dont know what kind of a salesman Hart is, but, if you can get a guy to listen then you can get him buy.

GRUDEN!!!!

Especially if that person is the one that has reached out through back channels and said, "Hey, just so you know, I'm interested."

I look at it this way. You have a decent looking girlfriend who has some very bad days (personality wise and superficially). You wished she could be a part of your life in some role because there are some positive attributes she brings to the tabel that you cannot ignore. You understand, however, that the role she may have in your life is likely not as a girlfriend or your wife because you have that gut feeling that there is just not a lasting connection there. On the other hand, a former girl in your life that you knew when you were much younger reaches out to you because she misses the connection she had with you. She is brilliant, smart, sexy and everything else that you have always looked for in a mate. In other words, an 11 out of 10 on the subjective female chart on which you and your buddies always rank girls.

Are you going to stick with the girl that you are 70/80% sure you will never have a real future with or do you take the risk and reconnect with the 11?

For me, it was a no brainer and I have been happily married for 6 years. I have a very strong feeling that if UT would take the leap and do everything in its power to make him the coach, UT would get the same result.

Here's the question the boosters and AD should be asking themselves.

If CDD and his staff can only manage 7 wins at best in 2012 with talent in several key positions on both sides of the ball, then what do believe he will do during years when graduations and the draft take a toll against the roster? How will CDD perform with new players and at the skill positions in several places?

If the best he can achieve is 7-5 with this current group, what does that say for him during the high turnover with the roster in a following year? 6-6? 5-7 or worse?

Are those acceptable standards in Knoxville now? Has this become the norm within the AD?

The decision is not as difficult as some make it out to be.

You make Gruden's history at UT sound like Cutcliffe's or Chavis'. He was a grad assistant at UT for 1 season. That's one step above waterboy....not really, but it's not like he has a huge connection to UT. Oh, other than his wife being a former cheerleader.

A girl never forgets her first. Gruden popped his coaching cherry here. Gives him a warm, fuzzy feeling.

You did say you were glad to see Fulmer go! not that glad now are you? Mama said be careful what you ask for. REAP IT!!!!!!!

I blame Fulmer for putting us on the road to mediocrity, or worse. No way I wish he was back with the program. My only regret is that we didn't go after a head-line coach.

Frostproof is a tiny tiny town, beside Lake Wales ,Florida. The High school Travis was from is very small and I know this because I also played ball there! Spook Hill was the biggest thing in Lake Wales, lol It was about the size of Crossville Tennessee

Alvin Harper was from Frostproof too

That's right...nice memory!

I guess the point is, there are tiny towns everywhere. If you have talent (especially in today's "You Tube" world) the scouts will find you.

So once again, geography=talent. That has got to be, hands down, the dumbest damn thing I have ever heard.

"Sorry, coach, I would have ran faster, but I was born in Tennessee. It's just not in the cards for me. Put the Florida kid in my place."
